Message From Our President

!

This month's Tulsa Treasure is our

Botanical Gardens. This is such a wonderful

example of the beauty of Tulsa. But it also

shows us the diversity of that beauty. It is

like Tulsa Newcomers. We in the club are

each different (backgrounds, ages etc.) but

we are growing together - just like the

flowers in the Botanical Garden!

I hope everyone is having a fabulous

summer!

June Luncheon

!

The June Luncheon was one of the best attended, and probably most enjoyed, of any!! I heard nothing but great things about the food, which was catered, and the show we were treated to in the planetarium was just amazing! Produced and narrated by Jenks high school students, the Sistine Chapel show was outstanding. This facility is world-class, and is most definitely an asset to our community! Can't wait to show it off to my family, next time they come to OK!!

The website has been updated with photos taken of our luncheon, so be sure to visit the Photo Gallery at www.TulsaNewcomersClub.com and while there, why not "sign in" so you will have access to the online Directory? It's not a hard process to sign in the first time, you just have to be a bit patient while getting a password. (No one but you will ever have access to your password, not even the site admin.) But logging in is not a requirement to seeing the photos, so go for it! :-)

Sunshine Report

Hello everybody! I was pleased to be asked to take over the Sunshine News function vacated by Susan Masino until the end of the year. I joined Tulsa Newcomers in February and am enjoying getting to know everybody, attending the lunches, brunches, luncheons and of course, playing Mahjongg. I appreciate everyone's warm welcome and kindness. I moved back to Tulsa after living and traveling full-time in a motor coach, then living on the East coast of Florida for the last few years. It's good to be back near friends and family. I look forward to going back to Florida this winter as a snowbird. ~Carol James ~ (918) 519-5601 ~ [email protected] Jeanette Goetz has recently relocated to a community near Houston, and would love to hear from her Newcomer friends, as it all happened so fast she was unable to say her "goodbye's". Please use her contact information in the Directory, and let her know we will miss her!! Carol James is saddened but excited for her granddaughter, Gabbrielle, who moved to Washington State along with husband and their six-month old baby, Harrison, Carol's great grandson. They will be transferring jobs and starting a new life there. Gabrielle's sister, Mercedes and navy husband already live there. The two sisters are best friends and excited to be back together again. Carol is planning a trip to Seattle in the near future. Carol Hotubbee is excited to announce that peacefulponies.org is official! Carol is the founder of this non-profit 501(c) organization using the power of equine therapy to provide service for individuals facing medical or emotional challenges. Janet O’Leary, Jan Johnston, Lynn Walters and Mary Stratton enjoyed a six day Roads Scholar Program to the Ozarks. The activities included arts and crafts demonstrations, square dancing, walking through National forests and cave tours. The most memorable event was a raft trip to the Buffalo River which included losing their guide who was brushed off into the river! He caught a ride on another raft and caught up with his group! Alma and Gary Buscombe just returned from a month-long trip to the UK. Their son, a 20-year resident of Brittan drove them to Devon where they enjoyed thatched roof cottages and the seaside. Various shows and concerts were enjoyed as well as traveling to the Lake District and staying on a houseboat in York. Kimberly Dryman reports that her daughter, Peggyann Kennedy is visiting this summer until she ships out for boot camp for the Navy August 9. She joined TNC in June and graduated May 13 with her Associate Degree Magna Cum Laude and won two awards. Peggyann is a new TNC member, too! Janet and Jack Gingerich traveled to Honolulu and Kauai for their 50th Wedding Anniversary – Congratulations to them! Jan and Michael Briggs were blessed with their 5th grandson (in a row) - 9lbs 2ozs – Bear Briggs!
