AID-OAA- A-10-00021) and is made possible by the generous support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development. • Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by a germ called Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. • The TB germ usually affects the lungs, but can also affect the other parts of your body. • Anyone can get TB. • TB can be cured Tuberculosis • Diabetes is a disease where the glucose (sugar) in your blood is too high and your body cannot use it properly. • Diabetes can be managed with a healthy diet, exercise and treatment. • If you have diabetes, get screened for high blood pressure. • People living with Diabetes can get TB easily because their immune systems are weaker. • If you have Diabetes you should be screened for TB. • If you have TB, you should be screened for Diabetes. • It is safe to take treatment for TB and for Diabetes at the same time. • For more information, talk to your nurse or doctor.
