Manage to the learning objectives:•keep the group/participant on task•properly allocate time spent on learning and breaks •succinctly transfer content to the learner•in classes use minimal amounts of lecture (less than 20% of time) •use storytelling, simulation, and review (80%)•be completely knowledgeable of the material•do not hesitate to truthfully say "I don't know" but then do the research and get back to the learner•provide resources to reinforce learning from your own experiencesManage negative participants: keep them from disrupting the learning experience for others and convert them to positive learners:•do not take it as a personal affront•invite the learner to fully express their views•call on the learner before they have a chance to interrupt•reinforce positive behavior•last resort: truthfully coach the learner with facts concerning their behavior away from others, and if necessary, ask to leave or escalate to the proper contactsAdjust the timing of the event to the priorities of the participant:•prioritize learning objectives at the beginning Create an effective learning environment for a class:•arrive at least 1 hour early•put learner supplies at each seat•put up peripheral learning posters•mix up the students during class •follow the procedures for sign-in, evaluations, receipts and any other processes. Present a positive and blame-free delivery (no 'they made me, they did this'). Own all issues.•troubleshoot the glitches inherent in all events: missing supplies, missing learners, poor environment, travel glitches
