Cheerleading Tryouts 2012• Tryouts will be the WEEK of May 20,

2013 in the Small Gym from 3:00-5:30– May 20, 21, 22 will be PRACTICE DAYS– The Varsity and JV coaches will be

watching you and making notes on your skill, performance, attitude, and work-ethic.

– You must have a signed cheer application in order to complete tryouts.

• Each day, prospective cheerleaders MUST WEAR a plain white shirt, a sports bra, black gym shorts or pants, and sturdy athletic sneakers.– If you are not appropriately dressed, you

will not be allowed to stay in the gym.

For tryouts…

• A completed Cheer application• A printout of your grades• A printout of your discipline report

1st Cuts…

• After Wednesday’s tryout practice, the 4 coaches will make 1st cuts.– An email will go out to ALL of the girls.– The tryout numbers of the girls we

would like to see back on Thursday will be listed in this email. There will also be a list outside of L110 & D204.

• If your number is listed in the email, we welcome you back to tryout in front of our panel of judges.

A UHS Cheerleader is...

• Dedicated to her squad• Responsible for her actions and

reactions• A “team player”• A good UHS representative

Cheering is a Commitment

• During the month of JULY, we have optional conditioning twice a week.

• We begin mandatory practices in AUGUST every Tuesday& Thursday MORNING from 8:00-10:00 and Wednesday EVENING from 6:00-8:00.

• Practices during the school year are Monday-Thursday from 3:00-5:30 (at the very least).

• In the FALL, Varsity Football games are Friday nights or Saturday afternoons.

• JV cheerleaders are expected to be at ALL HOME Varsity games and sit together as a squad.

• In the WINTER, basketball games are (usually) Tuesday, Thursday& Saturday

Cheerleading Competitions• We would like to take both JV

and Varsity to competition this year.

• Based on your performance, attitude and dedication at practices and games; JV and Varsity coaches will decide when and if you will compete.
