This booklet contains the biographies of all twelve (12) candidates together with their photographs. Candidates have been placed in alphabetical order by preferred name starting from the letter “A”.
The information contained in this booklet will give you details on every candidate in order for you to make an informed choice.

Motivation:
My independent and pragmatic thinking, integrity, skill set and background make me a suitable member of the Board of Trustees and I will ensure that I act with due care, diligence, skill, and in good faith, and most importantly, to the benefit of the members.
My view for the scheme is that it will be an effective, and truly beneficial scheme that is founded on sound ethics and good governance, one that makes its decisions in best interests of the members.

Motivation:
Healthcare has always been something that I have been passionate about. In addition to my Business, Risk and Project Management formal educational background, I am also a qualified Health Inspector.
My entire career (19yrs) has been dedicated to ABI-Coca Cola & SAB and I have gained valuable experience, knowledge and insights into the company’s policies and procedures. I have also had many achievements and received many accolades within the company during my tenure.
I am very much a people’s person who would ensure that the members’ best interests are served. I have been a member of SABMAS long enough to understand the needs and wants of members and if elected, will bring these to the fore.

Motivation:
As an employee of CCBA for the last 12 years of which 10 have been at a senior management level, I can bring to the table all management /fiduciary skills required to the trust.
I have come to understand the challenges experienced by medical aid members and will be able to translate those challenges into solutions. This will also provide an opportunity for me to play a meaningful role in improving the scheme.
As A trustee I would have the responsibility to ensure that the Fund complies with it`s legal, financial and ethical obligations.
I will also ensure that the Fund upholds good governance and internal controls and be held accountable to its members.
I am a highly resourceful and dependable person and the Trust will benefit from my particular skills to lead and organise.
My end goal to ensure that the Fund remains sustainable and provides members value for money with excellent service levels.

Motivation:
Having been in a leadership position (currently the chairperson of Supply Chain FAWU Shop Steward) I would like to explore the other world different to where I am currently.
I believe with my capabilities, experience, dedication and team work we can take this medical aid to be at the top within the competition.
To be the mouthpiece, ears, mandate driven of all stakeholders and members of the scheme.
On vision: On not putting the SAB Medical Aid at its best or top but by giving its members more of what they want and less of what they don’t.

Motivation:
I love serving people and this is one of the platforms that will really enable me to fulfil my call to serve. “our greatest strength is our people”
Since this an in-house scheme I will love to contribute in a way that at the end we get to a state of simplicity and have a user friendly medical aid that all people of different academic levels will feel comfortable to utilize their medical aid to the fullest. “common sense and simplicity”
Serving people means that I have to be the mouth piece of the workers and raise their concerns that arise and needs to the board to look into. “The consumer is the boss…”
Give proper assistance to the members on understanding the medical scheme plans.
My vision: to ensure that beneficiaries of medical schemes receive adequate and quality health care cover. And insure good governess is maintained.

I am an honest person who believes that the most valuable asset of any company/organisation is its people (workers).I believe that if a company looks after its people then those same people will do everything and anything to make sure that the company is successful and prosperous. I am a shop steward and have been looking after the needs of my fellow employees and I see myself as a servant of the people. So I would want to represent our people on this forum in order to make sure that their needs are taken care of in accordance with company guidelines.

Motivation:
I have served as a Trustee and co-opted trustee on the SAB Medical Aid Fund for the past 2 years. I have a very good understanding and working experience of governance, finance and investments as I have served on both the Finance and Investment committees of SABMAS.
My experience as a trustee on the SAB Staff Provident Fund further support my skills to serve on the above committees of the SAB Medical Aid Fund. My previous financial management roles in SABMiller and specifically as trustees of both the SAB Staff Provident Fund and currently the SAB Medical Aid, I believe I am suitably qualified to serve as a Trustee of SABMAS and add value to the Fund as a whole.
I will further ensure that there is a balance between the Medical Aid benefits and the Long-Term sustainability of the Fund, at a competitive cost in comparison to similar funds.

Motivation:
I am a Union representative and a principal Member of the SAB Medical Aid in Good standing. As an Employee and a member of the Medical Aid Committee at CCBSA, I deal with employee benefits on a daily basis. My appointment will not only benefit members in my company but All SABMAS Members. I will be available to employees on site to assist where possible and be able to provide the board with insight and understanding of issues arising from ground level. The fund should provide cover to as many people as possible, from all different socio-economic backgrounds and abilities, without putting the fund in a strained financial position. The costs of medical treatment are also escalating resulting in medical fund premiums escalating at a rate higher than inflation. I would like to be part of the process to seek solutions so that both the fund and the members will benefit at optimal level. It will be a great honour for me to be a trustee. My experience in finance has taught me to always practise the utmost good faith, fairness and due care, but most importantly attentiveness to the needs of the stakeholders and I believe these are some of the characteristics that a trustee must have.

This is also a perfect partnership with the scheme in that I will be able to make the Scheme to comprehend the needs of the people.

Motivation:
I have served as a member elected trustee on the SAB Medical Aid Scheme Board of Trustees since 2014 and as Chairman of the Board since August 2017. As a trustee, I have work with dedication over the past four years to ensure that SABMAS is a compassionate and trusted health and wellness partner for our members, one that is responsive to the needs of members and to run the SAB Medical Aid in a sustainable and responsible manner.
