I'm 27 years old, and I work as a marketing manager for the family business, Savoy Equipment. I was born and raised right here in Kelowna, and have lived in both Kelowna and Lake Country. I graduated from Okanagan College with a Business Administration Diploma in 2011.

The past election was my first time NOT voting for the Conservatives, and I could not be happier about my decision to switch. The initial driving force behind this decision was the economy. I asked myself why Canada was the only G7 country to be thrown into yet another recession and it all unraveled from that point. Complete lack of economic diversity, taxation policies that benefit the wealthy, flippant environmental decisions, and outdated viewpoints on drugs and how to control them. The list goes on and on.

What is on the forefront of my mind politically, however, can be summed up in one sentence; Helping Canadians succeed. This includes the economy, along with a world of policies that affect the underprivileged (such as taxation, child benefits, aboriginal issues, etc.). DavidHowardGeenI was born in the KGH, and graduated from Rutland High. Subsequent to my MD from UBC in 1966, and a 2 year piolet project Residency in Family Practice at the Calgary General, I established my practice in downtown Rutland, amongst the families I had grown up with.

Practice for the next 33 years was totally absorbing, and very rewarding. I was involved in internal medical politics, including President of the Society of Family Practice in 2000. Since retirement in 2001, I have had a small role in mentoring first year residents.

My family have been in the tree fruit industry since 1903, took over part of our parents orchard when they retired in the late 70s and Eleanor and I still operate a 7.5 acres of cherries, albeit with much of the labour contracted.

After several obstetrical mishaps, and the death of our daughter at age 3, Eleanor and I adopted newborns:- Graem, now an Infant transport first responder and Kiri who is working in the Vancouver TV movie industry and now has her full aboriginal status.

I became active in the LPC about 2006, and been a board director since 2008, and Secretary of the EDA since 2011.

And the rest as they say Is History - Steven Fuhr as our Liberal MP in K-LC, and we have a new majority Federal Liberal Government.

When Lance Greenberg took a non-partisan job in Steves MP Office early in November, he designated me as Acting President of the Kelowna Lake Country EDA.

I am originally from Manitoba, graduating from U of M in 1982 with a degree in Pharmacy. Since 1998 I have been a pharmacist at the BCCA Centre for the Southern Interior here in Kelowna. I retired in October of this year but remain busy covering casual shifts.

I have been very interested in politics since the original Trudeaumania days, and always found that my beliefs were most closely represented by the LPC. Until this year, I had always thought I was too busy to commit to any particular party activities, but I really enjoyed campaigning for Stephen Fuhr this fall.

One of the areas that I thought we could improve on locally was the expansion of our membership and supporters list, so that for the next election we would have a comprehensive and up-to-date database to work from. I noticed that despite our best efforts we were just not able to reach many of the neighbourhoods in Kelowna, and where we did go we were unable to contact may of the residents. A good contact list could help to overcome this problem.

As part of my work over the past many years, I have been able to develop solid computer skills which I would love to put to use for the local LPC.

SarahGumpingerSarah Gumpinger is an accountant, academic, and animal rights activist. She has a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) of British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario. Professionally, she develops and teaches accounting programs for university students, articling students and professional accountants. Sarah also devotes a considerable amount of time to volunteering, particularly within the Kelowna animal welfare community.

Sarah earned a Chartered Accountant (CA) designation and won the prestigious Winspear Medal of Honor for completing the final examination with distinction. She articled and practiced accounting with the international professional services firm, Deloitte, where she developed continuing professional accounting curricula. She also taught and developed courses for the CA School of Business, the distance-based learning program that formerly trained CA candidates in Western Canada. In her current role at CPA Canada, the national body of professional accountants, Sarah oversees the creation and maintenance of the program to become a CPA. In that capacity, she manages over thirty employees and contractors. She also teaches that curriculum as a Facilitator and Session Leader with the CPA Western School of Business.

Sarahs teaching experience extends to university. Specifically, she is an Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia (Okanagan), where she teaches Tax, Audit and Financial Accounting. She is also a Vice President on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Academic Accounting Association, an organization dedicated to research and education in accounting.

Beyond her professional and academic pursuits, Sarah devotes a lot of time and energy to volunteering. She provides ongoing accounting advice and services to This Life Cambodia, an international development organization that works to address issues like gender-based violence in Cambodia. Her largest focus, however, is on animal rights activism. She is an elected member of the BC SPCA Kelowna Community Council, which is responsible for supporting the associations governance and for promoting animal welfare though activities such as fundraising, advocacy, and education. Sarah is also the Volunteer Coordinator and a Foster Parent for the Okanagan Cat Coalition, which rescues, rehabilitates, and adopts feral cats within the region.

Sarah has always aligned politically with the Liberal Party of Canada because she believes in the importance of the Canadian social safety net. She first became a member of the Liberal Party of Canada over five years ago. Shortly thereafter, she served as a volunteer on the Michael Ignatieff national party leadership campaign. Sarah would like to volunteer for the party once again, this time as the Kelowna-Lake Country Executive Committee President. As a teacher, manager and charity board member Sarah has proven that she can lead significant groups of people to work together towards common goals. She believes that that type of leadership is essential for an effective Executive Committee.

MoniSchiller I wish to be considered for the position of: EDA Organization Chair

I was born and raised in Osoyoos, BC by Liberals, so I can attest to being a lifelong Liberal. My parents encouraged me to participate in the political process so in 1968 I was a Trudeau Girl and enjoyed attending events along with my mother who was very active for the party.

My mom, Ruth Schiller, was one of the original delegates who voted for Pierre Trudeau at the Ottawa convention in 1967. She was the co chair for BC of the campaign when Chretien ran the second time in 1996.

In grade 12 I became active in debating, and was awarded the Public Speaking Cup as well as being the class valedictorian at graduation. I have remained comfortable with public speaking ever since.

As you can see from the prcis below, I graduated as a teacher of the deaf in 1978, and moved to Prince George for my first teaching assignment. I remained for five years, returning to Vancouver where I attained my Masters degree in Education.

While working as an itinerant teacher for the hearing impaired in 1986 I developed a curriculum on hearing conservation which I presented to over 50 classrooms. I received recognition from the school district superintendent for my efforts.

In 1990 my then-husband and I decided it would be beneficial to raise our two boys outside of the city and so we moved to Kelowna. In 1992 I and a business partner formed a company called Rucastle and Schiller Workskills Ltd. in order to contract to the government.

This company was very successful, and we were awarded contracts such as Job Finding Club, career counselling, older worker projects, contracts to assist adults with disabilities, vocational assessments, and many more. At one time we had 10 employees and oversaw budgets of several million dollars.

After 15 years government contracting became centralized, and Susan Rucastle and I decided to seek different careers and closed the business.

I began working from home, contracting to a company which provides vocational rehabilitation to people on long term disability, and have been doing that successfully since 2007. My job involves working with adults who are sick or injured and who are making the transition back to employment.

I am interested in the position of Organization Chair, and believe I have the abilities to perform the required duties. I organized my 10th and 20th high school reunions and had to organize events for our various government contracts.

For example, we had an Open House which retired senator Ross Fitzpatrick kindly attended. I am not shy to invite people to events, and last year when my mom turned 90 I phoned Mr. Chretiens office and asked for a letter, which I received.

Regarding my passion for Liberalism, one of my hobbies is writing letters to the editor. One was published by both the Daily Courier as well as the Capital News just prior to the election, in which I asked voters to consider their own biases against youth and to vote for Mr. Trudeau.

I speak German and know sign language; I am engaged in my neighbourhood where I have lived for 25 years; I network at my gym, The Womans Place, and have a small home based business called Nuttier than a Fruitcake.

As you may have guessed, I make fruitcake. Monda Rosenberg, retired food editor for Chatelaine Magazine said You make one of the best tasting fruitcakes in Canada.

This feedback occurred because I am a shameless self-promoter, so I know if I can sell a tough product like fruitcake, I can certainly encourage volunteers to help me in events!
