Trumpet TRINITY BAPTIST CHURCH VOLUME 35 • ISSUE 9 SEPTEMBER 2 0 1 1 God is at Work! Ok, here we go. It’s been exactly one year since you called a new pastor. Over this year I’ve thought and prayed about TBC, who we are, and where God would want us to go. One thing that became very clear as I prayed was that God desired to put a very special team of leaders together to help TBC accomplish His will in our community. If everything goes as planned, the staff should all be together by the first week of October for a special time of staff training. I’d like to share with you a little of how I see the pieces coming together and why I believe God is going to do some amazing things in the next few years. My job as the senior pastor is to oversee every area I’m about to mention, but worship is the area where I’m most involved. Jeremy and I are responsible for seeing God is worshipped in a powerful way in corporate worship. This means when you, or your guests, enter the campus we are responsible for you seeing God as He is (an Enormous job if I do say so myself ). Jim’s job is to oversee discipleship. Discipleship is about lives being grown and transformed here at TBC. One of the most important ways that happens is through our Sunday School classes where we are able to form deeper relationships. Jim is also over the administration of the church. At a church this size there are numerous day-to-day operations that he oversees. Then there is Evangelism. Micah’s job is to build bridges between our church and our community here and around the world. As he connects us to the community, through projects like Child Evangelism Fellowship, we then need to cultivate those relationships. Those relationships are where Don comes in. Don’s job is to ensure that everyone who visits our campus, or we come into contact with, is visited. There are numerous people: including Don (Seniors), our new family and student’s pastor (College, High School and Middle School), Brenda (Children) and Kristine (Preschool), all of whose job it is to be sure a specific group is worshipping and growing in Christ. I can’t emphasize enough how critical it is that these ministries are second to none. Few things are as important as the quality of the ministries we have, especially to our little ones. Finally, the deacon’s role in this strategy is to ensure we are ministering to everyone in the church and serving the needs of the Body. Finally, behind all of this is an extremely gifted group of ladies who work in the office to provide all the support these pastors and leaders need to accomplish our mission which is to ‘Reach, Love and Grow Fully Devoted Followers of Christ’. It will take time for things to come together. It’s not going to happen over night, but I truly believe that if we work hard (Matt. 9:37-38) we are going to see God do some amazing things! God is at Work!Ok, here we go. It’s been exactly one year since you called a new pastor. Over this year I’ve thought and prayed about TBC, who we are, and where God would want us to go. One thing that became very clear as I prayed was that God desired to put a very special team of leaders together to help TBC accomplish His will in our community. If everything goes as planned, the staff should all be together by the fi rst week of October for a special time of staff training.

There are numerous people: including Don (Seniors), our new family and student’s pastor (College, High School and Middle School), Brenda (Children) and Kristine (Preschool), all of whose job it is to be sure a specifi c group is worshipping and growing in Christ. I can’t emphasize enough how critical it is that these ministries are second to none. Few things are as important as the quality of the ministries we have, especially to our little ones.

Finally, the deacon’s role in this strategy is to ensure we are ministering to everyone in the church and serving the needs of the Body. Finally, behind all of this is an extremely gifted group of ladies who work in the offi ce to provide all the support these pastors and leaders need to accomplish our mission which is to ‘Reach, Love and Grow Fully Devoted Followers of Christ’. It will take time for things to come together. It’s not going to happen over night, but I truly believe that if we work hard (Matt. 9:37-38) we are going to see God do some amazing things!

A note from Pastor Don:Little did I know six years ago that I would be called to serve once again on the Trinity Staff as Pastor of Outreach and Senior Adults. I want to especially thank Pastor Eddie and our Trinity Family for the invitation to serve in this capacity.

As Pastor of Outreach, I will be coordinating with Micah, our Missions Pastor, training for sharing our faith and promoting personal evangelism throughout the Church. If we are to be the New Testament Church that God has called us to be, it is imperative that we share the Good News with lost and un-churched folks. In the Great Commission, Jesus commanded us to make disciples of all the nations. (Matthew 28:19) What a great opportunity our Lord has given us to work with Him and for His glory! I will be sharing more about this with you later.

As Pastor of Senior Adults, I am looking forward to shepherding our Seniors and working along side our Joy Club. At Trinity we are blessed by having numbers of precious folks from our Preschoolers through Seniors and all ages in between. It will be amazing to see what God can do as we all work together to grow God’s Church!

Marie and I have continued to love you as our family, and we are excited to be back home with you to be a part of the great things God is doing and going to do in the Trinity Family. Trinity’s future is as bright as the promises of God.

- Pastor Don

Fall Discipleship Classes!Classes will begin on September 11, 2011. Some of the classes being offered this fall are:

“Godly Homes” - This class is being led by Pastor Eddie Coakley. He will be leading parents and caretakers through a special 10 week Sunday night class focused on making God the center of your family.

“Living by The Book” by Howard Hendricks - This Bible study begins with the most important skill of bible study - Observation. Then you will travel past the perils of Interpretation. The ultimate goal is Application, in which we practice biblical truth in order to become people who are living by The Book. This is a 7 week class led by Pastor Jim Smith.

“A Woman’s Heart: God’s Dwelling Place” by Beth Moore - T.K. Woods will be leading this women’s study. In this in-depth Bible study you will be challenged to prepare your heart, like the holy of holies, to become a home for His love and glory - a dwelling place for the Most High God.

Accountability - Cherie Nettles will be continuing her class on Accountability. There are only a few spots available so contact Cherie at 796-8373 if you are interested in joining this class.

“Jesus 101” - This class will be led by Margaret Lorimer. This course will be 6-8 weeks long and will survey Jesus’ life and teaching, with an emphasis on Jesus’ own quotations. There is no workbook, but participants will need to have email and internet access. We will be working on lessons online, exploring threads related to the lessons, posing questions of our own, and responding to the questions of both believers and seekers from all over the world. Meeting times on Sunday afternoons will focus on applying what we are learning from reading and interacting with others who log into the course. This will be a great opportunity to use the world-wide web to deepen our own faith as well as encourage and witness to others.

“Courageous Living Bible Study” - This men’s class will be led by Doyle Wingard. This bible study will help parents move toward living more courageously in four key areas.

1. Responsibility: serving, protecting, and casting a vision for their family.

2. Priorities: focusing on eternal things rather than what is temporary.

3. Legacy: recognizing a father’s potential impact as a godly role model.

4. Faith: strengthening a father’s identity in Christ, increasing in wisdom.

To be a part of one of these classes, please contact Jim at [email protected], call the church office at 791-0440, or sign up in the foyer.
