Tropical City version 1.1 for OMSI: Der Omnibussimulator (The Bus Simulator) Documentation - Revision date: May 19h, 2011 (3rd revision). SEE APPENDIX B FOR CHANGELOG Introduction and Credits Thank you for downloading the first public release of Tropical City. This is my first map created for OMSI. A lot of effort and hard work were put on it. I really hope you enjoy it. Public objects made by others were used on this map. You must have them in order to run the map without any issues. Construção by Filipe Ricardo (included, don’t need to download it); Schilder und Schranke 1.1 Set 1 by seeadler ( mods . gcworld . de); SULO Mülltonnen by Nordenhamer and Ventyres. I understand it is quite unpractical not to embed them into the package, but it may avoid conflicts if you already have some other version of these objects. Another reason is that any other maps you have installed may contain a different version of them. A great website for downloading these mods is OMSI Czech Republic ( www . omsi . cz). It is important to know that I didn’t make any of the objects on this map. Two original crossings had to be modified (to add some path splines), but they will not overwrite the original files you have. The bus stop plate and column are just repaints of the original models, made by Marcel Kuhnt and Rüdiger Hülsmann. About the city Tropical City is a fictional map surrounded by beaches, hills and mountains. It is composed by four neighbourhoods and a highway which connects Tropical City to the Airport, Forest Park and Downtown (the latter is not available yet). An aerial photo of each of them is available below.

Introduction and Credits Thank you for downloading the first public release of Tropical City. This is my first map created for OMSI. A lot of effort and hard work were put on it. I really hope you enjoy it. Public objects made by others were used on this map. You must have them in order to run the map without any issues.

● Construção by Filipe Ricardo (included, don’t need to download it);● Schilder und Schranke 1.1 Set 1 by seeadler (mods.gcworld.de);● SULO Mülltonnen by Nordenhamer and Ventyres.

I understand it is quite unpractical not to embed them into the package, but it may avoid conflicts if you already have some other version of these objects. Another reason is that any other maps you have installed may contain a different version of them. A great website for downloading these mods is OMSI Czech Republic (www.omsi.cz).

These are the special symbols for routes E1, E2 and 5:

Remark: If you don’t know how to use the IBIS, there is another way to get the special symbols for routes E1, E2 and 5. For E1 and E2, type gh on Line Number, and for 5, type /^\. City map JPG route maps are available for download at Tropical City website. Use them with the Route Helpers to learn all the routes. All bus stops are labeled with helpers and the respective buses allowed to stop. I hope you will be able to complete them without any problems. When coming across route helpers with the words “TO” and “FROM”, always consider the TERMINUS you are going/coming “TO” and “FROM”. This may get you confused in Bairro Alto. The only remark about Route Helpers is that there is no indication on how to get to the Depot. Don’t worry. It is located next to terminus Estudantes, after the Cedofeita Street, which leads to Fazenda. The Depot is located on the Spandau Street. I will also give you a picture of it:

Additional features and remarks

● Expresso Tropical buses have their own livery. The fleet is composed by SD202 D92 and SD200 D85;

● The D92 bus comes with special announcement sounds made for this map (in Portuguese);

● If you prefer to use buses with Roll band, don’t worry. Roll band signs are also available. Please refer to Appendix A for the codes. But remember: the official fleet of Tropical City won’t have buses with Roll band displays!

● A timetable spreadsheet is included in this documentation. Please refer to the file Tropical City - Timetables.

● When driving routes E1, E2 or 5 (Triangle), please deactivate Ticket Selling. Tickets for these routes can’t be bought with the bus driver. Obviously, this is just to simulate the action.

● Route 99N does the same stops and paths of route 99 plus bus stops and paths marked with 99N (ICC, Moradias Prudlik, Rua Cedofeita, Camponeses, Campina, Praça Bela and Fazenda). Route helpers will guide you.

Known issues Some issues exist and they are listed below. Please alert me of issues not listed here.

● You might get an Access Violation error occasionally when loading the map. I suggest restarting OMSI. If you were playing on another map and decide to go to Tropical City, I also recommend to restart it. If OMSI crashes during ‘Loading environmental traffic’, check Issues page question #4. This solved many cases.

● When driving on route 99 (going to Aeroporto), please do not stop at Praia Germana bus stop. For some reason, the game crashes if you stop at this station. When going to Boavista, the same station on the other side of the street works perfectly. I’m still trying to find the solution for that. If I don’t find it, the only feasible way will be to remove it from the route.

● Ponte Dom Bruno: occasionally, some cars disappear after crossing the bridge when coming to Colônia. This is not a spline or object issue. I couldn’t find the solution for it.

● Some AI buses may appear with an empty destination on the Matrix Display. This issue seems to disappear after some minutes of gameplay.

Personal comments During the development of this map, I got very used to the structure of OMSI game and its editor. As a personal criticism, I might say that this map is not exactly the way I thought it would be. I could have explored better the diversity of streets and splines that the game offers. Unfortunately, it would be a very hard work to “destroy” some parts of the map and build them again. Special Thanks All OMSI forum and Youtube users who gave their precious feedback. I’m sincerely grateful.Bruno Andrade (helped me in many parts and was a Beta tester);DIMI from OMSI Czech Republic/Slovakia for support and feedback;Filipe Ricardo (gave me precious hints on using the OMSI editor, permission to include his object pack, and was a Beta tester. You should check his map: Vale das Árvores);JayKae at OZx forums for inviting me to upload Tropical City to his server;Marcel and Rüdiger, for providing a state of the art bus simulator with an intuitive yet powerful interface of game editing;ShortCappy for reporting issues with route helpers and traffic;tomtoon for reporting a missing station at route E1. Brazilians might ask: “Why didn’t you release any documentation in Portuguese?”Learning English is a must nowadays. Besides being the most important language for communication worldwide, it is the best language (currently) to reach most of the public in the world. Other OMSI mod creators should follow this way. I am sorry if you don’t agree with me. Of course it is much more comfortable to write using our native language, but if we want to share this with the world, it is the best thing to be done, unless you are a polyglot and have plenty of time to write documentations in several languages. You may tell me to use Google Translate. But no, this won’t change my opinion.

If you read this until the end, you deserve a donut:

Have fun!

Appendix B Changelog

● Hills are now much smoother than before. But some of you might know that buses were not made for speeding while going downhill. This isn’t F1 simulator neither Anythingsuperfast simulator.

● Route Helpers improved and fixed.● Added a Traffic Light near Aeroporto.● Docking distance of some bus stops were fixed.● Routes 10, 20, 30, 70 and 99 are now more comfortable to drive,

since you won’t need to do continuous stops. Please refer to Route Helpers and also your TIMETABLE to know where do you have to stop or not.

● Routes 5, E1, E2, 99E and 99N remain unchanged.● Deleted some “micro” splines located around the map, hidden

between the mountains.
