GOURMET WEEKEND

In Copsa Mare 7th - 9th August 2015 !Let’s spend some good old summer days in beautiful Transylvania, Copsa Mare village, just minutes away from the famous Biertan (UNESCO World Heritage site). Our German Chef Daniel Wendorf will host a cooking class for kids, one for adults, while rest and relaxation will be provided by Copsa Mare Guesthouses- one of the most beautiful guesthouses in Transylvania. !THE STORY AND SCHEDULE FOLLOWS..

ABOUT THE PLACE

Copsa Mare Village, Biertan comune, Sibiu county

Not long ago, 30 kilometres away from Sighisoara, Raluca and Daniel got lost among some Transylvanian villages with enchanting names: Alma Vii (ger: Almen), Dealu Frumos (ger: Schönberg - “beautiful village”), Biertan. From one point, the car navigation must have also been enchanted, as it refused to direct them “right or left” and insisted to repeat “head NW”. As if they city breeds knew that much! The German immediately tried to determine the sunrise but Raluca started to think this must be some kind of wonderland they got into.

A few signs later, some usual debates and with a spark of intuition, they spotted the famous fortified church tower of Biertan (500 years old) and by magic, the road to Copsa Mare, their final destination.

Awaiting, four carefully restored saxon houses that make one ask himself who is the artist behind such harmonic aesthetics and authentic beauty.

Beyond the silent wooden gates, we did find Wonderland - one of those rare sceneries that can be seen mostly with the heart. And as a natural born dreamer, you will start imagining yourself on the porch writing your next novel, up on the hill with an easel and a straw hat or in the old barn having a glass of wine and worldly conversations under a heavy sky of stars.

Giovanna was saying in a press article that in Copsa Mare she gained beauty. That is true, it’s impossible not to be overwhelmed by it. The artists that gave back the charm of this village are Giovanna and Paolo Basetti, an Italian family that did so much more than buying houses as in 2005 they started a sustainable project of restoration and conservation of the saxon heritage.

Some named them “luxury guesthouses” in National Geographic (see article). Ville Giardini magazine called it “recupero di charme” (see article), and ProTv news entered the houses that will accommodate us for the next gourmet weekend (see video)

So dear friends, at Copsa Mare Guesthouses there are 4 guesthouses with 9 rooms waiting to write our own stories.

SCHEDULE

• Friday 7th August : arrive in Copsa Mare, accommodate and have dinner prepared by hosts at 8 P.M.

• Saturday 8th August: breakfast,

- at 11:00: cooking class for kids (minimum age 6 years old) with Chef Wendorf (we prepare lunch for everyone). See menu below.

- at 14:00: have lunch (cooked by kids during the class).

- at 16:00: cooking class for adults with chef Wendorf (we prepare dinner for everyone). See menu below.

- at 20:00: have dinner prepared during class.

• Sunday 9th August: breakfast and good bye to Copsa Mare.

* During the free time you can visit the village’s fortified church, the fortified church in Biertan. Sunday, you can stop on your way home and visit Sighisoara medieval city.

Cooking for Adults

Local ‘Sushi’ (spinach, rice, on-the-spot smoked trout, dill mayonnaise, trout caviar) | Mangalitza Sausages, Potato Salad | Tart with red Wine Ganache, red Wine Pear, Zabaione

PRICES

! The weekend package will be active for a minimum of 8 adult participants.

• Cooking Adult in double room: 1.766 Lei/person.

• Non-cooking partner in double room: 1.230 Lei/person.

• Cooking Adult in single room: 1.982 Lei/person.

• Children: under 4 years old: free of charge. Between 4-12 years old: 731 Lei/person.

Price includes: accommodation 2 nights in Copsa Mare Guesthouses; all meals (including water coffee, tea during meals); cooking class for kids, cooking class for adults (includes wine pairing). Prices include V.A.T.

Price does not include other drinks than mentioned above. your orders will be added to your room and can be paid during check out. Transportation to and from Copsa Mare is not included.

Your reservation will be processed after a personal email confirmation regarding availability. We recommend that the payment should be made in 48 hours term from receiving our email confirmation.

Reservations not paid in 48 hours term from receiving our confirmation, will be redistributed without further notice.

For cancelling your reservation by any reasons, with 14 days before the scheduled event, we will give you a full refund.

For cancelling your reservation after July 23rd 2015, we will not refund the amount paid.
