UCF is a major metropolitan research university in a dynamic city that is known worldwide

for its entertainment and hospitality. But there are many more reasons for you to become a UCF Knight.

UCF offers nationally and internationally recognized programs in engineering, simulation, education, medicine, hospitality management, film and media, and other fields. Our many partnerships with governments and industries result in unique facilities and special opportunities for internships, cooperative education experiences, service-learning courses, and, ultimately, high-wage jobs upon graduation.

Our diverse student body draws from every state and more than 145 countries. But UCF students share common interests in growing intellectually, gaining hands-on field experiences, participating in technologically advanced classrooms, and engaging in clubs, organizations, and community service projects. Our faculty members are award-winning teachers. They support undergraduate student research in many fields and are internationally known scholars.

In 2013, UCF will celebrate its 50th anniversary, and we are proud to be one of the great success stories in higher education. I hope that this viewbook will help you to discover how UCF stands for opportunity for you. Enjoy our inviting campus.

Cordially yours,

APPLICATION DEADLINES

We encourage transfer students to apply as early as possible, as space is limited. By applying

early, students may benefit from scholarship and housing availability, as well as a faster response time.

APPLYING Apply online at admissions.ucf.edu. Be sure to submit the signature page and residency affidavit along with the application fee.

WHEN TO APPLY Students can apply to UCF before they have received an A.A. degree. Applying six months prior to your planned entry term will ease your transition, may provide you with an earlier decision, and give you plenty of time to pursue housing and financial aid opportunities.

TRANSFER ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Admission is offered on a space-available basis, so apply early. UCF operates on rolling admissions. Students are typically notified of a decision within two to four weeks from the completion of their application. Applicants with lessthan60hoursofcompletedcollegecoursework must submit official high school transcripts, SAT or ACT scores, and all college transcripts. (Ifapplicanthaslessthan60hoursofcompletedcollege course work, UCF freshman eligibility requirements must also be met.)

Applicantswith60ormoresemesterhoursof completed college course work must meet English and math requirements, and fulfill the foreign language admissions requirement. Those who have earned an A.A. or articulated A.S. degree from a Florida public community/state college need only submit transcripts from each college attended. Students completing one of these degrees should apply well before their degree is awarded.

10

Page 13: Transfer Viewbook 2012-2013

T R A N S F E R S T U D E N T V I E W B O O K

GPA REQUIREMENTS All transfer applicants must be in good academic standing at their home institution. Transfer applicants should have a minimum 2.0 GPA to be considered for admission (a stronger GPA is highly recommended to be competitive in our applicant pool). You must also have two years of one foreign language from high school or eight semester hours of college-level foreign language.

Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

Your overall academic GPA will be recomputed by UCF on all transfer course work. In calculating this GPA, UCF recognizes a plus or minus grading system. Grade forgiveness is honored only if it has been awarded as part of an A.A. degree (or recognized A.S. degree program) from a Florida public community/state college or university. Some programs at UCF are designated as “limited-access” or “restricted-access.” Selective admission criteria are used to determine a student’s admissibility into these programs.

After you have been offered admission, you will receive a transfer summary report of accepted transfer credits. You must attend a one-day orientation program where you will meet with an academic advisor who will review your transferred course work and help you schedule classes.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND SCHOLARSHIPS

More than $400 million in merit- and need-based assistance is awarded annually to UCF students. You must be admitted before being considered for financial assistance.

All students must file or renew the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for aid. Begin the financial aid application process in January and apply by the March 1 deadline. A number of scholarships are available to transfer students who have earned an A.A. degree from a Florida public community/state college. You can access financial aid information at finaid.ucf.edu.
