hOW tO aPPly z Submit a completed online application at www.esu.edu/apply.

z Pay the non-refundable application fee of $45.

z Submit official college transcript(s) from all post-secondary institutions currently and previously attended. (Transcripts from foreign institutions must be translated by an approved evaluation agency).

z Submit your final high school transcript with graduation date or GED test results from the state of issue. (If you have an AA/AS or BA/BS degree your high school/GED results are not required.)

Applications received after the priority deadline date will be considered on a space-available basis.

It is the applicant’s responsibility to supply the Office of Admission with the necessary documents (application form; fee; official transcripts) to complete their application. The Office of Admission reserves the right to withdraw an application if the required information to complete the file is not received by the respective deadline date.

CredIt eValuatIOnsAs soon as you are accepted, your transcript(s) are evaluated to determine the number of credits that will transfer. We will send you an Initial Transfer Credit Evaluation with your offer of admission.

nOtIfICatIOn Of adMIssIOn: z All official correspondence during the application process will be sent to the email you provided on

your online application form.

z Keep track of your application status online at www.esu.edu/appstatus to ensure we have all the required application materials.

z Admission decision notification is delivered via the U.S. Postal Service. Applicants are reviewed on a rolling basis and are typically notified within three weeks of a completed application file beginning October 1 for Spring admission and February 1 for Fall admission.

What’s next/enrOllMent COnfIrMatIOn fee (dePOsIt)Accepted students must submit the Advanced Registration Deposit (ARD) to confirm they are enrolled at ESU. Once the ARD is submitted, you will receive access to your ESU email account, learn how to log into the “myESU” portal and view information on contacting your adviser for registration, find orientation dates, view announcements, and obtain information from other offices.

transfer adMIssIOn CrIterIaTransfer applicants with 24 or more college-level credits (excluding remedial/developmental coursework) must have a minimum cumulative 2.00 Grade Point Average (GPA) on a 4.00 scale for admission consideration. College-level coursework in-progress at the time of application will count toward the 24 college-level credits. Certain academic programs have limited enrollment and higher admission criteria; please see “Special Admission Programs.” See page 6.

Applicants with fewer than 24 college-level credits completed at the time of application (excluding remedial/developmental coursework) will be evaluated using a combination of official college-level GPA/credits, high school record, and SAT/ACT scores for admission consideration. Please note: Your high school transcript is required for admission review.

PASSHE Applicants: Applicants who have attended a Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) institution and have completed a minimum of 12 credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.00 will transfer under the guidelines of Academic Passport.

Please note: A combined GPA is calculated for applicants who have attempted credit at multiple institutions. Applicants must maintain a cumulative minimum GPA of a 2.00 on the final official college transcript. Applicants not offered admission to a “Special Admission Programs” will have an opportunity to choose another major.

Credit from institutions not accredited by the above or non-accredited institutions will be reviewed by the Center for Enrollment Services/Registrar or relevant ESU academic department for transfer credit.

Non-Transferrable Credit: Pre-college level courses (remedial/developmental) are not transferrable.

Acceptable Grades: All college-level courses with a grade of ‘C-‘ or better will be considered for transfer credit. Grades of ‘D’ are only considered for transfer credit if the applicant is transferring under the guidelines of ‘Academic Passport.’ English composition requires a ‘C’ grade to count toward graduation requirements.

AP and CLEP Credit: Grades of ‘3’ or higher on AP exams and scores passed at the 50th percentile for CLEP may be considered for credit at ESU. AP and CLEP credit will not be taken from college transcripts. A College Board official score report must be sent for transfer credit evaluation.

Credit Evaluation: As soon as you are accepted, your transcript(s) are evaluated to determine the number of credits that will transfer. We will send you an Initial Transfer Credit Evaluation with your offer of admission.

Teacher Education Candidates: ESU strongly recommends you take and pass the Pearson Pre-service Academic Performance Assessment (PAPA) in reading, writing, and mathematics as soon as possible or during your first semester at ESU. Information about these examinations can be obtained from www.pa.nesinc.com or 1-800-877-4591. If you have not taken the Praxis I, you must take the PAPA tests. Please note: Admission requirements may change based on ongoing changes in the program. There are numerous program changes pending for students who will graduate after December 31, 2012, due to changes in PA certification requirements.

z 2 new on-campus suite-style residence halls — complete with common kitchen areas and living spaces — are available to all students, including transfers.

z We also offer additional housing in the smoke-free University Apartments complex and the off-campus, suite-style University Ridge apartments.

z Free shuttle buses run continuously weekdays from University Ridge to main campus.

z Students with 60 or more credits may keep their car on campus in designated lots.

transfer OPPOrtunItIes and PrOGraMsPATRAC (Pennsylvania Transfer Articulation Center) “Take your credits with you”

PATRAC serves as a one-stop shop for transfer students, and was created as a seamless statewide transfer and articulation system. Transfer students can expect:

Successfully completed coursework from the approved Transfer Credit Framework will transfer and count towards graduation at ESU.

Statewide program-to-program transfer agreements are being developed that allow Pennsylvania community college students to transfer their full Associate of Arts (A.A.) and Associate of Science (A.S.) degrees into parallel bachelor degree programs at the participating institutions with junior standing including ESU.

aCadeMIC PassPOrtIf you are a student at a Pennsylvania community college, Lackawanna College or one of the PASSHE universities and are ready to transfer, Academic Passport is your guaranteed admission to East Stroudsburg University. To qualify you must have a conferred Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree from a Pennsylvania community college or Lackawanna College or at least 12 college-level credits from one of the PASSHE universities. All students must have a minimum 2.00 grade point average.

Students holding the Academic Passport will transfer credit according to the Board of Governors Policy titled “The Academic Passport and Student Transfer Policy.”

y $500 Transfer Student Scholarship – Students who transfer directly to ESU with an associate degree from a PA community college with a minimum cumulative 3.00 GPA are eligible. Awarded each spring for the fall academic year.

y Reduced Out-of-State Tuition Program – For out-of-state transfer applicants majoring in mathematics, science and technology can save close to $5,000 in tuition each year. Eligibility: 30 transferrable credits; 3.00 cumulative GPA, and appropriate major.

z Scholarships for exceptional students are available through academic colleges and individual major programs.

z To qualify for need and merit based aid, you must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at www.fafsa.gov. Our school code is 003320. Remember to indicate ESU as your school for next year.
