appLy to ou There is no cost to apply to oU and no paper application to slow you down Go to oaklandedufuturestudents and follow the detailed application instructions under the Transfer section Make sure to write down your ID and password so that you may log in and monitor the status of your application We typically notify students of an admissions decision within 4-6 weeks after all application materials are received You can apply to oU at any point in the year but to be eligible for scholarships be sure to apply and submit all required materials by

bull August 1 for fall entry

bull December 1 for winter entry

aSSeSS your creditS admissions criteria depends on how many credits you have already earned from another institution at the time of application You should check with your current institution to determine if you qualify for the general education MaCrao agreement In general

bull 24 or more college credits a GPa of at least 25 will be considered for admission to oakland University (wersquoll also consider positive trends of most recent grades)

bull Fewer than 24 college credits admis-sion will be based on both college and high school records (you must provide transcripts from high school and all colleges attended)

tranSFer creditS once you are admitted to oU (congrats) you will receive a transfer credit evaluation within one week all coursework completed with a ldquoCrdquo or better grade is evaluated You may use transferred courses for general education and major requirements academic departments will review transcripts for credits to be used toward major requirements by the end of your first semester at oU as an incoming student you may transfer up to half of the minimum credits required for your intended degree from a community college To see how your credits will transfer go to

bull Part One which is online and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete

bull Part Two the 25-hour on-campus session where yoursquoll meet with an academic adviser create a plan of study and register for classes

At OU we make the transfer process smooth and welcoming Below are the basic steps to follow when transferring

all students transferring to oU must earn at least 32 credits at oakland University to complete a bachelorrsquos degree program

bull Cost per credit hour is based on class standing freshman and sophomores with fewer than 56 credits are considered lower-division students juniors and seniors with 56 or more credits are considered upper-division students Depending on how many credits you transfer you may be charged upper-division rates oaklandedutuition

now that yoursquove learned about the extraordinary opportunities and resources available at oakland itrsquos time to figure out how to pay for it all Today more than half of oU students attend with the help of financial assistance totaling more than $120 million You can benefit from those funds too ndash all you need to do is apply for admissions

When you check out our tuition rates remember that oU students pay no fees like they do at other colleges In fact oU is the only public university in Michigan that doesnrsquot charge fees We simply have one price the cost of tuition

SchoLarShipSTo be considered for scholarships entering winter transfer students must apply and submit all required materials by December 1 2012 and entering fall students must apply and submit all required materials by august 1 2013 If you meet these deadlines yoursquoll automatically be considered for oUrsquos scholarship awards oaklandeduscholarships

Distinguished Transfer Award ($3000 for two years $1500 per year)awarded to new transfer students with a college GPA of 360 or greater and 24 or more transferable credits

Talented Transfer Award ($2000 for two years $1000 per year)awarded to new transfer students with a college GPA of 300-359 and 24 or more transferable credits

The 24 transferable credits must be earned by the scholarship deadline

FinanciaL aidfill out the free application for federal Student aid (fafSa) online at fafsagov to see how much federal andor state financial aid is available to you Most applicants qualify to receive at least an unsubsidized loan which is not based on financial need Often other grants work-study opportunities and subsidized loans are offered as well fill out the fafSa as soon as possible after January 1 oaklandedufinancialaid

reVerSe tranSFernew this year students who complete a minimum of 30 credits at Macomb Community College and a minimum of 35 credits at oU will quality for reverse transfer and will be awarded an associate degree from Macomb That means they can pursue a bachelorrsquos degree while still having the associate degree to show for their earlier efforts

reVerSe tranSFernew this year students who complete a minimum of 30 credits at Macomb Community College and a minimum of 35 credits at oU will quality for reverse transfer and will be awarded an associate degree from Macomb That means they can pursue a bachelorrsquos degree while still having the associate degree to show for their earlier efforts
