Moldova is a small country neighbouring Romania at the West and Ukraine at the East. Accsessing Moldova

from the West may be cheaper and easier than from the East. The Western border of Moldova is more

secure and predictable, then most of the eastern one where Moldova is neighbouring Transdniestr. Thus, a

traveler who is arriving into Moldova from the side of Transdniestr will not get his Moldovan stamp of

entrance and will need to get his registration with the public authorities in Moldova. Another reason is the

high cost of flights to Chisinau. It may be twice cheaper to fly to Bucharest and then arrive to Chisinau by

train or minibus.

Netherveless, travellers are arriving to Moldova same frequently from the west, from the east and by plane,

landing at the Chisinau airport.

FROM ROMANIA

Bucharest to Chisinau (Kishinev) by train

Bucharest - Chisinau:

Travel overnight from Bucharest to Chisinau on the 'Prietenia' sleeper train,

leaving Bucharest Nord at 19:40 daily and arriving to Chisinau 8:00 am next

day. 1 st and 2nd class compartments available on this train. This train stops at

Ungheni border crossing from 5:02 until 6:42 am.

Chisinau - Bucharest:

Travel overnight from Chisinau to Bucharest on the 'Prietenia' sleeper train,

leaving Chisinau Train Station at 17:30 daily and arriving to Bucharest Nord around 7 am next morning.

Approximate fares:

Brasov-Chisinau:

Transbus Codreanu operates buses from Brasov to Chisinau. Their depot is located on 13 december street at

the walking distance from the central bus station in Brasov. Checz transporter Orlan provides regular buses

from Prague. The bus departs from Autogara Bartolomeu in Brasov at 7:00 in the morning on Wednesdays

and Thursdays. The wednesday bus drives through Bucharest and arrives to Chisinau at 18:30 and the

Thursday bus is faster arriving to Chisinau at 14:00. The terminal stop of the bus is in front of the hotel

Chisinau in the city center and accross the road from our Negruzzi flat .

Chisinau - Brasov:

Buses leave from Gara de Sud and Gara Centrala in Chisinau. From Gara Centrala (Central bus station) it

leaves every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 21:00 and every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 11:00.

From Gara de Sud it leaves at 12:00, 18:00 and 19:00 on different days of the week. About 10 hours to

Brasov. One way ticket to Brasov is about 15 Euro.

Constanta to Chisinau by train [Temporarily canceled]

Available only in summer period from June to September. It departs from Chisinau every Monday, Wensday

and Friday at 17:10, arriving to Constanta at 6 o'clock next morning and to Mangalia at 8 o'clock same

morning. The price for a one way ticket to Constanta is 270 MDL (around 23 USD) and to Mangalia is 285

MDL (around 24 USD).

Kiev to Chisinau (Kishinev) by bus

Chisinau - Kiev : (updated Feb 2011)

Several buses daily at 07:30, 19:00, 20:30 and 21:30 departing from Gara de Nord in Chisinau. Most of the

buses will go via Transdniestr and only one (the 20:30 bus that leaves every other day) will go avoiding

Transdniestr. The final destination of the 19:00 bus is Borispol airport. The trip takes from 10 to 11 hours

and costs around 20 EURO.

Kiev - Chisinau : (updated Feb 2011)

Times for return buses are 11:45, 18:45, 20:30 and 21:45 departing bus station in Kiev. Buses depart from

the Central Bus station in Kiev that is located on 3 Moscow square in Kiev. For information contact tel: +380

(044) 5279986, +380 (044) 5255774. Central Bus station (Avtovokzal Czentralnyj) is located near the

metro station "Libidska". You can take bus / minibus 539 from the Train Station.

Bus from Borispol airport leaves airport at 18:05 daily. You can purchase the ticket in one of the kiosk near

the entrance/exit of Terminal B of the airport.

Odessa to Chisinau (Kishinev) by train

Odessa - Chisinau:

Travel from Odessa to Chisinau on a (suburban) electric train 642 "electrichka". No sleeping compartments,

but only vagons with seats available on this train. Departure from Odessa at 17.11 daily and arriving to

Chisinau at 22.14 same day. 5 hours on the way. The train is crossing the Republic of Transdniestr. The

passports are checked on board of the train and no need to come out of the train. Carriage number 5 has

soft seats and tables at the windows and a bar with cold and hot drinks served, while the rest of the train

has got hard wooden benches.

Chisinau - Odessa:

Train 641 leaves from the Chisinau Train Station every day at 7:20 arriving to Odessa at 12:02 same day.

Approximate fares: about 7 Euro one way. Train tickets for Chisinau - Odessa destination can be

purchased in advance for our customers.

Odessa to Chisinau (Kishinev) by bus

Odessa - Chisinau (updated April 2013):

There are many buses daily departing from Odessa Privoz (Novoshchepnyi Ryad St, 5, tel: +380-48-777-

74-81 location on google map) and from the South bus station (Khimichna st) in Odessa. The trip takes about

5 hours and costs about 8 Euro one way. Avoid going through Transdniestr and take a bus crossing

Ukranian-Moldovan border at PALANCA or TUDORA border crossing instead. It is advisable that you buy

your ticket in advance, especially in summer time. Below you will find a list of buses that we can book your

ticket for (all go avoiding crossing transdniestr)

08:50 daily Odessa Privoz - Briceni arriving to Chisinau at 14:45

10:00 daily Odessa Privoz - Soroca arriving to Chisinau around 16:42

Chisinau - Odessa(updated April 2013):

Buses leave every hour as early as 5 am in the morning and until 12 midnight. Most of the buses depart from

"Gara de Nord" (Northern bus station) in Chisinau. 5 hours on the way. Most of the buses go via the

Moldovan-Ukrainian border crossing at PALANCA or TUDORA, but ask before you buy your ticket, as

some buses are still crossing the Transdniestr area where you may be leaving 15-50 USD at Palanca border

as a bribe.

Cost and Booking: 9 Euro one way. Payment by cash at the station. Advanced purchase of tickets available

15 days prior to the departure. Please, email us to buy/book your tickets to Chisinau or to Odessa in

advance.

Odessa to Chisinau (Kishinev) by private car

and transfer to Chisinau by private car. The transfer to Chisinau will take about 4 hours. The cost is 100

There is no direct train connecting Chisinau with Crimea and you can make it via Odessa.

Odessa - Simferopol - Odessa:

Train 310 Odessa - Simferopol departs daily at 23:59 arriving to Simferopol at 11:35 next morning.

Train 310 Simferopol - Odessa departs daily at 17:00 arriving to Odessa at 04:41 next morning.

Tickets:tickets available in the 1st (2 berths) and 2nd class (4 berths) sleeping compartments. Cost of the

ticket one way 1st class is about 45 Euro and 2nd class is about 15 Euro.

Crimea/Yalta/Simferopol to Chisinau (Kishinev) by bus

Simferopol/Yalta - Chisinau:

Comfortable daily buses from Crimea to Chisinau. Bus number 505 Yalta - Chisinau via Simferopol leaves

Yalta at 14:10 and Simferopol at 16:30 daily and arrives to Chisinau at 07:45 next morning. This bus is

going via Tudora border crossing avoiding Transdniestr. One way ticket is about 30 Euro. Chisinau -

Simferopol/Yalta:

Comfortable daily buses connect Chisinau with Crimea/Yalta/Alushta/Simferopol. Bus number 506 Chisinau

- Yalta leaves Chisinau at 16:05 daily arriving to Simferopol at 07:30 and to Yalta at 09:40 next morning.

The bus is avoiding crossing Transdniestr. One way ticket is about 30 Euro.

Kamyanets-Podilsky - Chisinau: (updated April 2013)

Bus from Khmelnitsky will stop at Kamyanets-Podilsky on its way to Chisinau. The bus goes avoiding

Transdniestr. Bus leaves from Kamyanets-Podilsky daily at 9:30 am and will arrive to Chisinau at 6:55 pm.

This bus goes via Khotin~Mamaliga~Lipcani~Briceni~Edinet~Balti~Orhei~Chisinau. One way ticket costs you

around 11 Euro. Book your ticket in advance via Marisha.

Chisinau - Kamyanets-Podilsky:

Bus to Khmelnitsky will go pass Kamyanets-Podilsky. The bus leaves Chisinau Gara de Nord daily at 06:20

arriving to Kamyanets-Podilsky at 4 pm same day. This bus goes via

Orhei~Balti~Edinet~Briceni~Criva~Mamaliga~Khotin. One way ticket will cost you around 11 Euro. Booking

Lviv / Lvov to Chisinau (Kishinev) by train (updated April 2013)

No direct trains at the moment of updating, but you can make the connection via Zsmerinka or Zhmerynka or

Shmerinka in Vinnyts'ka oblast in Ukraine.

Lviv/Lvov - Chisinau:

About 7 trains in the course of the day connecting Lvov and Zsmerinka. The earliest train leaves Lviv at 9

am and the latest being at 9 pm. 6 hours journey to Zsmerinka.

Chisinau - Lviv/Lvov:

Train 47 and 342 Chisinau - Moscow and train 61 Chisinau - St Petersburg will be stopping at Zsmerinka /

13:00 towards Germany going through Polysh towns of Przemysl~ Rzeszow~ Tarmow~ Krakow~ Katowice~

Opole~ Wroslow~ Legnica. It's in Krakow at 11.00 next day.

Krakow - Chisinau: Every Tuesday at 12 noon from Krakow arriving to Chisinau at 9 am next morning.

Cost: one way ticket to Krakow is about 75 Euro.

Prague to Chisinau (Kishinev) by bus

Prague / Checz Republic - Chisinau:

Orlan Chezc provider runs regular buses between Prague and Chisinau. There are buses every Wednesday,

Thursday and Friday at 11:00 in the morning from Prague Florenc bus station pl. 9. Buses arrive in front

of the Hotel Chisinau in Chisinau that is accross the road from our Negruzzi flat. The Wednesday bus is the

longest one arriving to Chisinau on Thursday at 18:30. Stopping at Brno-Bratislava-Butapest-Arad-Deva-

Sebes-Sibiu-Fagaras-Brasov-Ploiesti-Bucuresti-Buzau-Braila-Galati-Cahul-Cantemir-Leova-Hincesti. The

Thursday bus arrives to Chisinau on Friday at 14:00 in the afternoon and is stopping at Brno-Arad-Deva-

Sebes-Sibiu-Fagaras-Brasov-Onesti-Birlad-Husi. The Friday bus arrives to Chisinau on Saturday 15:40

stopping at Brno-Oradea-Cluj Napoca-Dej-Bistrita-Suceava-Botosani-Riscani-Balti.

Chisinau - Prague / Checz Republic:

Departing at 9:00 in the morning on Fridays and Saturdays and at 10:00 on Mondays from Hotel Chisinau

Fly from Riga or Vilnius directly to Chisinau with AirBaltic for 80-100 Euro return. Check out the website of AirBaltic for details

and bookings. Consider flying to Bucharest (Wizzair or Easy Jet from the UK) and taking a night train to Chisinau from there. Also,

Wizzair is flying from London Luton to Kiev Borispol and from Kiev to Odessa, so this could be an option if the Ukraine is in yourlist of the countries to visit this holiday. Blue Air flies to Romania (Bucharest and Bacau) from majour cities in Europe (London

Luton, Dublin, Paris, Bruxelles etc) and you can find flights at as little as 20 Euro one way.

London to Chisinau (Kishinev) by air Flight operated by "Air Moldova" from London Stansted airport. Flight on

Tuesdays and Fridays. Check timetable with www.amadeus.net . They do not transfer laggages at Stansted, so make sure you got

enough time to pick yours and check in again between the flights if flying from Manchester or other towns of UK. Air Moldova
