Daikin Airconditioning (Singapore) Pte Ltd is proud to be the first Approved TrainingOrganization to offer the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) courses inair-condition installation, commissioning and maintenance. Training is targeted atengineers, consultants, technicians in the Construction industry, Real EstateManagement and Maintenance <REMM), and Process industries. Under this programme,Daikin offers 5 competency units pegged at WSQ Certificate Level and 3 competencyunits pegged at WSQ Advanced Certificate level. Participants will be awarded with a WSQStatement of Attainment (SOA) upon the successful completion and assessment of eachcompetency unit.

This competency unit is pegged at WSQ Certificate level. It equips learners with the skills andknowledge to determine the basic operating conditions and maintenance of residential air-conditioningsystem. It encompasses working safely in handling different refrigerant, identifying abnormalities anddetermining operating conditions of air-conditioning system. This unit also allows learners theopportunity to conduct compliance test run and basic maintenance of residential air-conditioningsystem through practical session.

W2: Diagnose and Rectify Faults In Direct Expansion Air-conditioning System

(PI-EM-131E-1)

This competency unit is pegged at WSQ Certificate level. It covers diagnosing and rectifying faults indirect expansion air-conditioning system. This will cover residential and commercial air-conditioningsystems. It encompasses applying knowledge of direct expansion air-conditioning systems operatingparameters to logical fault finding processes, implementing fault rectification, safely and functionaltesting, and changing of compressor. This unit provides learners the opportunity to rectify faults ofdirect expansion air-conditioning system through practical session.

CONTENTi. Interpret flow in the refrigerant circuit for cooling operation in accordance with manufacturer’s

This competency unit is pegged at WSQ Advanced Certificate level. It equips participants with the skillsand knowledge required for the selection of Variable Refrigerant Flow air-conditioning system. Thecourse encompasses working safely, determining heat loads, selection of indoor and outdoor unit usingmanual method and computer-based method and documenting results.

This competency unit is pegged at WSQ Advanced Certificate level. It equips participants with the skillsand knowledge to interpret the basic elements and construction of the chilled water system. The typesof chilled water system covered in this unit include air-cooled and water-cooled chiller systems. Thisunit also equips learners the skills required in the selection of chillers through theory exercises and casestudies.

This competency unit is pegged at WSQ Certificate level. It equips learners with the skills andknowledge required for the installation and commissioning of residential single-phase air-conditioning system below 10kW. It encompasses working safely, conducting compliance tests,conducting visual inspections, and identifying noncompliance defects and mandatory reportingrequirements. This unit also provides learners the opportunity to install and commission theresidential single-phase air-conditioning system through practical session.

CONTENTPlan installation procedures in accordance with installation manual

• Install air-conditioning system in accordance with installation manual

Terms and Conditions

1. Registration & Course Acceptance₋ Application forms are to be submitted together with payment (cash or crossed cheque) at least 15

working days or earlier, before course commencement.₋ All cash payment to be made at Daikin office and all crossed cheques must be made payable to

‘Daikin Airconditioning (Singapore) Pte Ltd’ and attention to ‘Training Department’.₋ Please indicate the participant’s name, course title and the training date behind the cheque.₋ Confirmation of course acceptance will be made at least 5 working days before course

commencement with receipt of full payment and complete application form.

2. Payment / Refund / Cancellation Fee₋ Payment by cheque/giro/cash are accepted.₋ A notification of withdrawal must be received in writing and should indicate the following details: Course title and training date Name of participant/s

₋ A full refund will only be made if a notification of withdrawal is received within 10 working daysor earlier before course commencement.

₋ If the class is cancelled by Daikin, Daikin will provide a full refund via cheque.

3. Pre-requisite₋ Basic English language writing and communication skills.₋ An ability to participate effectively in group discussions, speak and communicate in a learning

environment.

4. Class size₋ Class will only commence with a minimum of 6 trainees and up to a maximum of 8 trainees.₋ Daikin reserves the right to cancel or postpone the session where enrolment is insufficient or in

the event of unforeseen circumstances. Every effort will be made to inform the trainee at theearliest possible time via mode of contact provided.

5. Issuance of Statement of Attainment (SOA) – For WSQ Courses₋ Trainees are required to achieve a minimum attendance of 75%.₋ Trainees must be assessed and certified Competent for the Final Assessment (FA).₋ Final Assessment (FA) results will be submitted within 2 weeks after the completion of the

assessment.₋ Trainees will receive a notification to download the e-cert via www.skillsconnect.gov.sg two days

after our submission of the assessment result.

6. Appeal₋ In the case of appeal regarding the FA results, participants must submit an appeal form within 5

working days after the date of assessment.₋ Appeal form can be downloaded from www.daikin.com.sg/information-downloads.

7. Important notes₋ All courses are conducted in English.₋ Daikin reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions without prior notice.

8. Training Grant Application₋ Training grant are to be submitted by the individual company.₋ For SMEs, up to 90% of course fee can be funded and for non-SMEs, up to 80% of

course fee can be funded.₋ Companies must submit its application and claim through the online

SkillsConnect/SkillsFuture System.₋ All applicants should submit the training grant application at least 1 week before

course commencement.₋ In the event the applicant did not fulfil the following, thereby resulting in the claim

being rejected, the applicant’s company is liable to pay the balance of the coursefee (i.e. the potential funding amount) to Daikin:

₋ (1) Achieve at least 75% attendance,₋ (2) Sit and pass the examination₋ (3) Make payment on time
