CongratulationsonyourrecentpurchaseofTrafficLogixradarspeedsigns“SJT-02”,or“SJT-02V”.Asyoumayalreadyknow, theTrafficLogixspeedsignsare innovativelydesignedwithauniqueconfigurationofLEDs(lightemittingdiodes)thatallowsformaximumbrightnessatlowenergycon-sumption.
Below,pleasefindaguidetoprogramming,monitoringandusingyourTrafficLogixspeedsignwiththeaccompanyingPASTROSsoftware.
1 The PASTROS softwareTheparametersandstatisticreportingsoftware(PASTROS)isdesignedtohelpyougetthemostoutofyourradarspeedsign.Itallowsyoutosetparameters,monitortrafficdata,andgeneratereports.ABluetoothconnectionandalaptoporpersonalcomputerwillenableyoutousethesignsoftware.
2. ConnectiontotheTrafficLogixspeedsign
2.1 SetupyourBluetoothdevice
ABluetoothdevicehastobeconnectedtotheuser’sPCorjustswitchedonifthePChasabuilt-inBluetoothdevice.UsingtheprovidedBluetoothdriver,thecomputerandtheTrafficLogixspeedsignhavetobepaired.Thedefaultnameofthesign’sBluetoothis“BT-12”andthedefaultpasswordis“12345678”.ThenameandthepasswordcanbechangedatanytimeoncethePASTROSsoftwarehasbeeninstalled.(Seesection3.3)
2.2 Startingthesoftware
When the Bluetooth connection has been established and the Traffic Logix speed sign isconnectedtoyourcomputer,startthePASTROSusersoftware.Duringthestartingprocessthesoftwarewillattempttolocatethedriverfeedbacksign.Thismaytakeseveralminutes.Asmallwarningwindowwillbeshownduringthisprocess.Iftheconnectionisestablished,themessage“Ready”willappearinthestatusbar(lowerleftside).
Iftheusersoftwarecan’tcommunicatewiththedisplaydevice,amessagewindowwillappearwiththemessage“Can’topentheport”.Ifthisoccurs,gotothe“Signboard”menuandchose“Searchsign…”Thesoftwarewillreattempttolocatethesign.Ifthisattemptisunsuccessful,checkyourBluetoothconnection.
IfyouknowthecomportwhichisinusefortheBluetoothconnection(seeWindowsBluetoothdevicesmenu)youcantrytosetthecomportinthePASTROSsoftwaremanually.Pleaseusethe“Signboard”menu“Manualportselect…”option.

3. TrafficLogixspeedsignsettingsAllmenuitemsdescribedinthischapterarefoundintheSettingsmenu.Thismenusincludesdisplayparameters,operationmodes,measuringanddatarecordingcategories,Bluetoothnameandpassword,andthedeviceclock.
3.1 Displaysettings
Thisoptionletsyoudeterminehowyoursignwillreactwhenavehicleisapproaching.
Parametersdownload
UsingtheParametersdownloadbutton,currentdisplaysettingsparameterswillbetransferredfromthesign.However,ifthesignhasalreadybeenconnected(whichshouldgenerallybethecase),thedownloadoccursautomaticallyandthecurrentparametersofthespeedsignwillbeshownwhenyouopenthedisplaysettingswindow

Location ID: Maximum30characters–Youmayspecifyadevicename.Ifyouwanttotestthedevice,startthisfieldwithaspace.Inthismode,speedvalueswillbecontinuouslygeneratedasiftheyweremeasuredbytheradar.Thisisusefultotestdevicefunctionality.Toterminatethetestmode,enteranameintheLocationIDfieldbeginningwithacharacterotherthanspaceandloadthedevice.
Unit: Chooseeithermphorkm/h
Intensity: SetmaximumandminimumLED intensity.Themaximumvalue is 100,whiletheminimumis1.Theautomaticdimmingwillworkbetweenthe2chosenvalues.
Speed settings: Thefollowingspeedvaluesmustbeadjusted.Choosethedesiredvalueforeachcategory.

Clickonthe“?”button,andatablewillshowavarietyofpredefinedoperatingmodes.Thischart refers to theabovementioned limitvalues, and showswhatwillbedisplayedby thedeviceinthedifferentmodes.

withtheDopplereffect,inordertomaintainaccuratereading,themeasuredspeedvaluesmustbecorrectlybasedonthepositionoftheradar.TheDopplershiftfrequencyisthedifferencebetweenthefundamentaltransmittedfrequencyandthereceivedfrequency.Thisisdenotedby“F”andiscalculatedby:

3.3 Bluetoothsettings

Inthissubmenu,Bluetoothparameterssuchasthenameofthesign’sBluetoothandpasswordcanbechanged.ThesearerequiredtosetuptheBluetoothconnectionintheWindowsoperationsystem(see2.1)
Forsafetyreasons,youshouldchangethepasswordfromthefactorydefault.
IfyouforgottheusernameorpasswordforyourBluetooth,youcanresetthefactorysettings.Todothis,openthesignanddisconnectthepowersupplyplugoftheelectronicboard,andfindthe“Program”connector(X8).(SeeFigure9)

3.5 Autoclockupload
Ifthislineismarkedinthesettingsmenu,whenyouconnectthesoftwaretothespeedsignyourcomputertimewillbeuploadedtoyourdisplaydeviceautomatically.
4. DownloadDataWhenyouclickonthisbuttoninthemainwindow,thetrafficdatawillbedownloadedfromyoursigntoyourcomputer.

Excelwillopenandthedatawillbeshown.Theheaderdatawillbedisplayedinthefirst4rowswitheachfollowingrowdisplayingonedatarecord.YoucansavethisspreadsheetbychoosingSavefromtheFilemenuinExcel.
5.1.4 Savedataastxt
YoucansavethetrafficdataasaCSV(commaseparatedvalue)textfile.Todothis,choose“Savedataastext”fromtheFilemenu.Astandardsavedialogueboxwillopenandthedefaultfilename(thelocationID+date)willbeoffered.Changethefilenameasdesired.
Anewfilewillbesavedinthefollowingformat:Intheheader,thelocationandstorageparametersaredisplayed.After theheadereach rowcontains thedataofonemeasuredperiod.Thevaluesareseparatedbycommas.
Ifyouwanttoaddthedatatoanexistingfile,choosetheexistingfilenameandthenewrecordswillbemergedtotheendoftheexistingfile.Theheadersmustbeidenticalforthemergetobeaccurate.Thesoftwarewillnotchecktheheaderoftheoriginaldocumentbe-foremergingthenewdata.
