Triggers determining the success of an initiative:

1)the type of organisation and

2)the driving force (organisational vstechnology innovation)

that push the launch of an initiative

Operational guidelines for scaling-up (work in progress):

•Analyse needs carefully

•Monitor and re-fine objectives

•Tackle interoperability

•Promote policy change

•Get support from all key stakeholders

•Address funding (esp. for mainstreaming)

•Role of champions (e.g. Professionals)

CONCLUSIONS

• ICT innovations for active and healthy ageing show social and economic returns: support caring at home, ageing well, productivity, quality of care and life

• Investing in digital for demographic change can generate growth and jobs, and social cohesion

• Organisational innovation and technological innovation determine path for success

• Policy leadership, involvement of key stakeholders, developing business models, involving users (older people, carers and professionals), and solving interoperability and privacy issues are key for implementing and scaling up these innovations

• EC can support Member States:

• Dissemination• Mutual learning (exchange good practices)• Developing policy frameworks• Providing funding
