2. XX LO GDASK POLAND Natural Treasures of Europe 3. uraw uraw is a historic Gdansk port crane, seated between the pylons of Wide Gate at the Motawa. The crane was built in the years 1442- 1444. It served primarily as a port device for loading of goods and ballast on ships, and setting their masts. 4. Neptune Neptun is a antique fountain, which shows the god of water Neptune. It is located in the most representative part of the city the Long Market, in front of the Artus Court.The sculpture was made in bronze around 1615 year. 5. The Main Town Hall The Main Town Hall is located on the street Duga. It's a Gothic-Renaissance building with a characteristic eighty- meter tower and big clock. The Town Hall is very old. The construction began in 1346! Now in building there is a Historic Museum of Gdansk. 6. Long Market Long Market with the Duga street forming the Royal Route are among the most beautiful streets in Gdask. You can walk them and admire the beautiful old buildings. 7. Golden Gate Golden Gate is most important Gate in our Old City. Both sides of the gate have figures symbolizing citizen's qualities. Under figures there is a gold sentence In agreement small republics grow, because of disagreement great fall. 8. Green Gate Green Gate is probably the oldest of the water gates of Gdansk. Green Gate in Gdansk is the first example of Dutch Mannerism, a style that gave the town the characteristic beauty. It was built between 1564-1568 by Regnier of Amsterdam and Hans Kramer, as Gdansk residence of Polish kings. 9. The Upper Gate The Upper Gate is entrance to the city and begining of King's Way. Now This Gate is only monument. 10. Basilica of Santa Maria Basilica of Santa Maria is the largest brick church in the world, it is105,5 meters long and 66 meters wide. There is a place for 25000 people. There are legends about this church. 11. The Artus Court The Artus Court is a building in the Main City, located near Dugi Targ street. Now it's a Historic Museum of Gdask, like Town Hall. Formerly Artus Court was a meeting place for residents of city. The interior of the building consists of a large hall in the Gothic style, with a lot of pictures, antique furniture, rich ornamentation and big eleven-meter furnace. 12. Fountain of four quarter Fountain of four quarters is a beautiful fountain with four lions and four colors (yellow, red, blue and white), each colour symbolizes four old parts of Gdask. 13. Torture chamber and Amber Museum Torture chamber is a place with interesting history. Formerly, in this very old building was a jail, execution room and court. Initially it was a gate to the city. Now in this place there is the Amber Museum. Amber is particularly connected with the Baltic region and it was always important for Gdansk history. In museum we can find lots of amber, in various forms. 14. The Maritime Museum The Polish Maritime Museum in Gdansk consists of eight branches: four museums, two ships, crane and granaries on the island Oowianka. Museum also takes care of a few lighthouses and a lot of monuments connected with shipping, fishing and generally sea. The museum takes part in science projects. 15. Gallery of Old Toys On Piwna street you can see old Polish toys produced between 1920-1989; dolls, horses, cars etc. You can come back to your childhood. 16. The theatre Wybrzee The theatre Wybrzee is situated near Duga street. It has existed for 200 years. In fabulous dramas you can see many famous actors. 17. The theatre Miniatura The theatre Miniatura is a theatre for children, where fairy tales and performances are staged specially for them. 18. Gdask Shakespeare Theatre- "Theatre in the Window" This theater is located in Gdansk on Long Street. Theatre in the Window is a project of the Gdask Shakespeare Theatre, which is' a window on the world of theater. Two windows of a new office serves as a theater space for a variety of theatrical forms. Space revived through scenes played out in front of the audience, dialogues and monologues delivered by artists, shorts and dance. 19. The Cinema Neptun The Cinema Neptun is situated on Duga street. It's an old cinema with beautiful atmosphere. It's the only one of Gdansk's cinemas where popcorn isn't sold and without adverts prior to film. 20. The Baltic Opera The Baltic Opera in Gdansk was built after the Second World War. It's a place, where you can see many beautiful and well-known ballet performances. 21. Westerplatte Westerplatte is a peninsula in Gdask, located on the Baltic Sea. It is famous for the Battle of Westerplatte, which was the first clash between Polish and German forces during the Invasion of Poland and thus the first battle of the European theater of World War II. 22. Gra Gradowa Gra Gradowa is 46 metres high and it's the best viewpoint in city centre. There's a cross on peak. You can admire panorama of Gdansk from it. 23. Three Crosses Square Three Crosses Square are in the Solidarity Square. This square played an important role in the 1980s. It is known as the place of origin of Solidarity movement. Three Crosses is a monument in honor of the fallen Shipyard Workers. 24. Pomnik Obrocw Poczty Polskiej The monument in honor of the participants in the defense of the Polish Post in Gdansk. It commemorates one of the first armed encounters during the Second World War. The monument is located on the square Havelius in the Old Town in Gdansk. 25. PGE Arena Gdask The PGE Arena Gdask is a football stadium in Gdask. It is used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Lechia Gdask. The stadium was built specifically for the UEFA European Football Championship, which are being held in 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. The capacity of the stands is 43,615 spectators. 26. Oliwa Park Oliwa Park is one of the most famous parks in Gdansk. You can come here for a walk with your family and admire the rare species of trees and plants. 27. ZOO Gdask Zoo in Oliwa is one of the biggest zoological gardens in Poland. It's a big (136 hectares) park and forest complex with more or less 190 species of animals. The Zoo is visited every year by thousands tourists and residents of Tricity. The garden was created in 1954 and is still being extended. It's a great place for spending free time with family or friends. 28. The water tram The water tram is special summer offer for tourists. You can travel by tram to Hel Peninsula. The cruise lasts till 3 hours, in this time you sail to open Baltic Sea. 29. Beaches In Gdansk there are many beautiful sandy beaches where you can relax and spend time perfectly together with friends or family. 30. Dominican tavern The restaurant is located in the center of the Old Town, adjacent to the Hilton Hotel and a wide range of historical monuments of the city. The restaurant serves mainly fish from the Baltic Sea purchased directly from fishermen because they are always fresh. 31. Panorama Restaurant It is situated in Gdansk in the center Business Zieleniak. Located on the sixteenth floor of a skyscraper. The restaurant has views of the shipyards and the Old Town. The view is really very impressive. 32. Hanza Hotel Hanza is a four-star prestigious hotel located in the Old Town at the Motawa. It was opened on 2 May, 1997, during the millennium celebrations of Gdask. Hotel has elevation referring to historical style of Old Town. 33. Hilton Hotel Hilton is a five-star hotel in Gdansk, located at the Motawa, on the side occupied by the medieval Teutonic castle. Inside there are 150 hotel rooms and suites. There is also the largest conference center in Gdask - 600 m and up to 530 people, swimming pool and underground parking.
