Issue 2 – Term 1 – Week 6 Monday, 2nd March 2015
Issue 14 – Term 4 – Week 6 Friday 20 November 2020
Dear Parents, Carers and Families
NAIDOC Last week our students participated in learning to
celebrate the history, culture and achievement of
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Students
engaged with Dreaming stories in our new Yarning Circle,
learned about Aboriginal symbols, made emu callers and
explored artefacts.
Touch Football Stage 2 and 3 students are ecstatic to be participating in a
touch football program provided through Sporting Schools.
Mr Roberts was successful in applying for a grant which has
allowed our students to participate in the program at no
cost to families. From Kindergarten to Year 6, we have
noticed a remarkable improvement in our students’
fundamental movement skills through our dedicated
sporting programs. We extend a huge thank you to Mr
Roberts for his dedication in this key learning area and look
forward to more sporting surprises in 2021.
Hats We are working hard to reinforce sun safe behaviour
with our students and have stressed the importance of
wearing the school bucket hat when playing in the sun.
These hats can be purchased through the school uniform
shop on the QKr! App for $12. Purchased hats are
available from the school office on the following school
day. Please ensure that your child has a LABELLED school
hat to bring to school each day. Students who do not
have their school hat will need to play under covered
areas. It is also a great idea to apply sunscreen on your
child before they come to school each day to protect
them from the sun.

NAIDOC Week
Five Islands Demountable Classroom
Next Monday 30 November, a new demountable
classroom will be arriving on site for Five Islands
School. This classroom will be placed adjacent to the
pre-existing classrooms at Five Islands in the space
behind our technology room and next to the path
from the top gate. PLEASE NOTE: This may limit
access to and from our school and top gate during
the installation period. Please monitor the Skoolbag
app and Facebook for updates during this period so
you can be sure of the safest drop off and pick up
point for your child.
Presentation Day
While restrictions have eased in relation to
Presentation Days and Graduation Ceremonies, we
are still required to ensure that guests, including
students and staff, are able to be accommodated
under the 4 square metre rule. Unfortunately, that
means we are unable to invite parents or community
members to Presentation Day. We explored many
avenues, including hiring other local venues, as we
would dearly love for our families to participate in
this special occasion. It has been decided that the
best way to share Presentation Day will be virtually.
A permission note for this occasion will be issued
shortly.
P and C Meeting
P and C meetings can now proceed on school site
after school hours. Our last P and C meeting for 2020
will be held in the school library at 3.30 pm on
Monday 30 November. While we are very excited to
host our P and C meeting on site, please do not
attend if you have cold or flu-like symptoms.
Congratulations to students achieving their
