2015 TOSCAN RED BLEND TOSCANA IGT WINEMAKER’S NOTES A brilliant ruby-red color with purple highlights. The aroma is intense with elegant notes of dark fruits, among which blackberry and blueberry stand out, followed by mellow vegetal scents of aromatic herbs. The palate is rich and flavourful with measured and elegant tannins, well integrated in a lissome and harmonic body. The finish soft and persistent with a distinct base of wild berries. Varietal blend: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese VINEYARDS & GRAPES Grapes originate from vineyards with the best positioning in Tuscany. The soils are of various types, predominating sand and clay. Tuscany is known for a warm, sunny growing season with substantial temperature differential between day and night. Such conditions produce flavourful and rich grapes for wines appealingly complex with distinctive aromas. The vines are manly positioned to point south, which contributes to the complete maturation of the fruit. FERMENTATION AND AGING The grapes are harvested upon full maturation during September. The wine is vinified using an average maceration time of 8 days. Temperature is controlled (28-29 °C) during the fermentation to encourage the release of attractive tannins and to develop a clear ruby colour, while maintaining the rich fruit aromas of the grape. After fermentation, the wine is kept in stainless steel temperature-controlled tanks for 6 months. Wine Stats: 5.38 g/l total acidity, 3.32 ph, 10.4 g/l residual sugar, 12,5% Alcohol SERVING SUGGESTIONS Ideal with slightly spicy charcuterie, pasta with meat sauce, light meat stews and medium-aged cheeses.
