Topsail Rigging Limited
Traditional rigging & ships services.
Topsail Rigging Limited is a Canadian traditional rigging & ships services company
capable of working worldwide.
Officially registered in 2014, the group has worked together since 2008.
The core members are Paul DeNoble, Danielle Doggett & Sean Parsonage; however
there are other close personnel who often participate in the projects.
Combined, the core members have over 40 years experience on sailing ships – from
small boats to yachts, schooners & large square riggers.

Rig tensioned & tuned with
traditional rope through wood
deadeye & lanyard.
Crafted & installed
the entire new rig as
Master Rigger &
team of the Dutch
brigantine
Tres Hombres.
Crafted & installed all standing and
running rigging as Master Rigger & team of schooner Ruth in Barbados.
Rig tensioned & tuned with
galvanized bottle screws.
Oversaw beachside
launch & sea trialsas Captain
Worm & parcel with the lay;
turn & serve the other way.
Cut, whip, splice & seize rope of any size.
Contracted by Sailmaster BV to up-rig the
new Shabab Oman II – as well as complete Sea
Trials & train the Royal Omani Navy.
Seamless soft & hard eye Liverpool wire splices for a
number of ships worldwide – up to one inch diameter.
Crafted by hand & marlinspike alone.
Traditional wire seizings for the engineless wooden brigantine
Tres Hombres; in the Netherlands during a major refit.
Working with caulking mallets & irons to seal
the wooden deck with pitch & rolled oakum after
replacing white oak planks.
Pouring hot black
pitch over natural
oakum.
Steam-Bent Oak & Beech
masthoops for
schooner Ruth; Barbados.
Fastened with bronze
bolts, finished by
hand-stitched
leatherwork.
Leatherwork measured,
shaped & sewn by hand.
Completed for number of
vessels, including fully rigged
ship Shabab Oman II.
Finished with Linseed Oil
& Beeswax to seal.
Major restoration of 1912 English cutter
Morwenna using traditional wooden
boatbuilding techniques.
Replaced bow - Larch planking over new sawn
Oak & Acacia frames.
Replaced Oak apron and
forward keelson -
including keel bolts.
As shipwright, oversaw
and instructed team of four
ships carpenters.
