    6 FEATURES FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2013

Married man in love with a married woman

home late from office. But Amyand I already talked on givingourselves ready for letting go. Itold Amy Id let her go becauseI love her so much. Out of re-spect, Joe, nothing really dras-tic has happened to us, and Ipromised her nothing would.

Sometimes I wish I could say Iwas just using her. A casualfling who I could let go easily. But I really love and care for

Amy. I wish I could say that Iwas just physically attracted toher, but the real Amy I got toknow these past few months isthe person I really care for.

Joe, Amy ended our relation-ship a couple of weeks ago andI still fear that I wont be able

to make it. I miss her wheneverI hear our favorite songs. I al-

ways find myself crying in the

bus on my way home. Were still very much in

touch, and even if we wantthings to be the same as they

were before, I guess I was rightwhen I said things will never bethe same again. We talked forthe last time over French friesand mountain dew. I wanted toclarify things about us. We decid-ed to stay friends, and not thinkabout the feelings. How stupid, feelings are not thought of, they

are felt, uncontrollable at times. So there is still that somethingthat we share. And its kinda stillthe same, nahihirapan pa rinsiya at times, and me too.

In my heart and mind I justwant to be there for her. But mymind tells me what realities Ishould accept. can my heart sur-

vive? Like Amy asked me once:What will happen to us? What

will happen to our friendship, Joe?

Thanks so much for yourtime and God bless.

    Sincerely, Norman

DEAR N orman,What I want to tell you wouldntmake you feel better either. Reali-ty can sometimes hurt us deeplyand take away our strength. Butthere are only two worlds we canlive in, the world of truth and theworld of make believe. The firstone often wakes us up in painand the other one promises relief

from our miserable lives. Most ofus choose the latter because we

find ho pe in it. But promisesmade in a world of lies and de-ceit are empty and deceiving. Liv-ing in truth can be painful be-cause we have to give up thingsthat are precious to us. Andwhen we let go of something im-

portant, a part of us goes with it.Norman, marriage is just the

beginning of a long process offinding fulfillment in life. Those

DEAR Joe,Im Norman, Im in my mid-twenties and I work at a

firm in Makati. Life has been good to me , Joe, despitemy having been through many trying times like the sep-aration of my parents and financial problems. These tri-als made me strong , but there are still times when Idsay I cant face them alone. I met Amy, an officemate ofmine whose older than me by about two years or so.

Our first meeting was likemagic. She made me forget all ofmy problems and I suppose I hadthe same effect of numbing herpains. It didnt take long for us tofall in love and feel like

teenagers again. Were both crazyand sentimental. We share an in-terest in so many love songs and

we even share view on problemsaired on Love Notes. I couldntfight the feelings, Joe, but bothof us are married and we bothhave children who depend on us.

Sometimes wed talk aboutour situation on an intellectuallevel, and often times, Id breakdown. And shed comfort me

with words of reassurance, of stillbeing friends, of still being there.Joe, sometimes Id find myselfstaring at nothing and thinkingabout her. I know you once saidthat its when we let our emo-

tions control us that we get intotrouble and passion blinds oursense of good judgment. For atime I didnt want to believe that.I just wanted the feelings to last.

But one day, she wouldnttalk to me because her husband

was already having some ideasabout us. And this realitydawned on me, I thought of myfamily too. My wife was also be-ginning to wonder why Id go

    LOVE NOTESwho fail in marriage

seek happiness in littlepleasures they find out-

believed in the preserva-tion of marriage. Maybethere is still hope tobring back all that hasbeen lost between youand your wife. If youwill sincerely try to de-tach yourself from Amyeven if it hurts, then
