Jamie Foxx powers up Electroin ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’

F OR Academy Award-winnerJamie Foxx, who plays Electroin Columbia Pictures’ new ac-

tion-adventure The Amazing Spider-Man 2, joining the Spider-Man fran-chise isn’t quite like taking on anyother role.

“It’s a great feelingto come to work on aSpider-Man movie,”he says. “I rememberthe moment I firststepped on to the setand I saw Andrew[Garfield] in the suit. For me, it was like amoment in history. We’re doing some-thing that people re-ally love. It’s a part ofour fabric, part of ourculture. That wasvery meaningful tome and it was a re-sponsibility I took se-riously—in craftingElectro, I wanted tobe a formidable oppo-nent.”

As the hero’s great-est battle begins in“The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” it was impor-tant to the filmmakersto put in his way thetoughest obstacle Spi-der-Man has yetfaced. At the sametime, they wanted avillain deeply rootedin Spider-Man lore: atragic figure, evensympathetic in someways, but one whomakes the wrongchoices that lead himinto evil and opposi-tion against Spider-Man.

“Max Dillon is anunderdog, not a vil-

lain – you want tofeel badly for him”says producer AviArad. He’s a man whohas been ignored hiswhole life. But whenhe becomes Electro,he wants recognition,at all costs. Electro, the villain, is takingout his frustrationand anger on humani-ty, specifically target-ing Spider-Man. No

good deed goes un-punished.”

Before taking therole, Foxx was coun-seled by one of hisclosest advisors aboutwhat would be instore for him as Elec-tro. “When I told mydaughter that I wasgoing to be in a Spi-der-Man movie, shesaid, ‘Who are yougonna play?’ I said,

‘Electro.’ She said,‘Oh, Dad, you knowyou’re gonna get beatup. You know that, right?’”

Opening across thePhilippines on April30 in IMAX 3D, Digi-tal 3D and 2D for-mats, The AmazingSpider-Man 2 is dis-tributed by ColumbiaPictures, local officeof Sony Pictures Re-leasing International.

Hamakin nyo, kung datibinibigay sa bagong franchiseang first round draft rights, kulelat ngayon ang N-Lex,Kia at Blackwater in the se-quence order.

The last I heard, the PBAboard is reconsidering theunreasonable conditions theyhave imposed on the threenew teams.
