Dear Students & Parents/Guardians, This years summer reading program was designed with a number of goals in mind. First and most importantly, we want to encourage you to read over the summer and help instill in you a lifelong love of reading. In addition, we have chosen only one required book with the theme of time travel.. By having the whole school read the same 9 books and participate in a school-wide summer reading experience, we hope to build a community among students and teachers. Happy reading! -The MOLIN Summer Reading Committee Directions for Summer Reading All students entering Grade 5 are required to: Read ONE book during the summer. Story Thieves by James Riley

Book 2 Book 3

Sophie Quire and the Last Storyguard By Jonathan Auxier

"Twelve-year-old Sophie knows little beyond the four walls of her father's bookshop, where she re-pairs old books and dreams of es-caping the confines of her dull life. But when a strange boy and his talking cat/horse companion show up with a rare and mysterious book, she finds herself pulled into an adventure beyond anything she has ever read"

Billy Gillfoyle's spending the summer in a lakeside cabin that belongs to the mysterious Dr. Libris. But something strange is going on. Besides the security cameras everywhere, there's Dr. Libris's private bookcase. When-ever Billy opens the books in-side, he can hear sounds coming from the island in the middle of the lake. The clash of swords. The twang of arrows. Some-times he can even feel the ground shaking. It's almost as if the stories he's reading are coming to life! But that's impos-sible . . . isn't it?

Shy, twelve-year-old Una Fairchild is suddenly transport-ed by a mysterious book into the Land of Story, where char-acters from books hope to be cast into a tale of their own, and Una attends the Perrault Academy while trying to dis-cover why she is there.

The Land of Stories By Chris Colfer

“The Masked Man possesses a powerful magic potion that turns every book it touches into a portal, and he is recruiting an army of liter-ature's greatest villains! So begins a race through the magical Land of Oz, the fan-tastical world of Neverland, the madness of Wonder-land, and beyond. Can twins Alex and Conner catch up to the Masked Man?"

Coming in July!
