to our “Bred to be Cows” Female Production sale,

This is our second major, female production sale. We are pleased to offer this set of females. As many of you know, bulls are our major emphasis. With pleasure, we sell 120+ Simmental and SimAngus™ bulls each spring to commercial producers throughout Colorado, Wyoming, and the west. Our sale is the third Saturday of March 21st, 2019. They are produced from these very same cows we are offering in this sale. Our commercial producers demand bulls to work in harsh western conditions, hence we say, these are “bred to be cows”! What we mean is, they have to work in commercial, range operations. That is how they are bred, that is how they are run …. just like our customers. Oh, we can feed them and make them look pretty …. but they are, “bred to be cows”.

We maintain a purebred cow herd. Purebred Simmental, straight Angus, black and red. Then they are bred AI to the bull of that breed, or bred AI to the opposite breed if we want to produce an F1, SimAngus. Almost always, they are turned out with a follow up bull of the opposite breed. That is where also obtain our F1 SimAngus calves. We do not retain F1 SimAngus heifers, we sell them. We know the heifers are the best females in the industry. But our job is to produce F1 bulls, and the F1 female is a by-product of what we do …. so come take advantage of these females. The F1 SimAngus female, in my opinion, may be the best cow in the industry.

• ASR Little Dessi Z213, is our most prolific donor of donor of recent times. She has produced 40 progeny in the ASA database in the U.S. and Australia. There will be more to come.• We have several daughters in our herd by this great cow, two of which we have started ET flushing. We have started using a son of her as a herdsire. Fall Calving Pairs Our fall calving groups has been selected from our small group of approximately 50 fall calving cows. We primarily selected those females that had heifer calves this year.

We thought they would have the most sale appeal, plus we like to keep the cows with bull calves as the resulting 18 month old bull calves sell very well in our bulls sale a year and half from now.

Bulls are our true business! We will breed these females AI with our other fall calvers, just prior to sale time and provide the buyers with that information. We hope you like our AI selection. We will AI them just like if we were to own them!

Spring Calving Bred Heifers This is an elite group of 2018 born replacement heifers right out of the heart of our own group. Several are ET heifers. We AId these heifers two cycles and then were turned to a very nice, calving ease, moderate birthweight Angus sire, ASR Respond (SAV Resource x Freightliner x Final Answer), until July 15th. They have been vaccinated with modified live vaccines early in their lives and killed vaccines more recently. Again, they have been handled just like our replacements, until recently when they were brought in to get ready for the sale. They were summered on a full section, short grass prairie pasture, and are “cake broke”. They have not been pampered. They may like your house better than ours.
