Clock Ticking on Telstra’s 2G Network
If you use TNS’ Wireless POS Service
and connect into the TNS Payment
network via Telstra’s 2G (GSM) network
please verify with your payment terminal
supplier that your hardware is capable
of supporting the newer 3G and 4G/LTE
wireless data platforms. Telstra has
announced that it will close its 2G
network by the end of 2016.
Your TNS-supplied wireless SIMs are
already 3G and 4G/LTE compatible
which means you do not need to
change these components, however,
we encourage you to check whether
you need to change or replace your 2G
devices and, if so, confirm if this can be
done within the time remaining.
A letter was issued to all affected TNS
customers during July, which includes
more information about Telstra’s
decision and what steps to take.

National Broadband Network Update for TNSLink Customers
The rollout of Australia’s National
Broadband Network (NBN) continues
across the country and this technology
is gradually replacing the older telecoms
infrastructure which is being
decommissioned. If you are a TNSLink
wired broadband customer this may
mean TNS needs to change the type of
access services you receive. Your
interface to the TNSLink service will not
change.
A notification and set of frequently
asked questions were shared with
TNSLink customers during August. At
this stage no action is required on your
part and it is likely that only some areas
will be affected. A member of TNS’
operations team will reach out to you if
our existing access services cannot be
utilised and you need to be migrated
onto a new broadband service,
managed by TNS.
