The newest Large Diameter Fixed Cutter Drill Bits, the TitanUltra product line, is officially

commercialized as of March 31, 2011.

This new fixed cutter product line is the culmination of a series of field tests in different locations

worldwide in an effort to provide solutions on large and ultra large hole drilling, particularly in

deepwater applications. The development of this new technology has a unique design philosophy which

provides ultra-stable bit designs.

The TitanUltra line will not replace the existing Titan Fixed Cutter bits but rather expands the Titan largediameter family. This new line has demonstrated extreme-success in deepwater applications while

drilling lithologies such as salt and medium to hard sandstone and shale interbedded formations.

Proof of Performance

Over a year of testing has resulted in three new world records set in some of the most important

deepwater applications, launching NOV Downhole to lead the market of ultra large deepwater drilling.

The 17 -inch TitanUltra set a single bit run world record in a section ofthe worlds longest well

offshore Russia, drilling a total length of 14,603 ft at a rate 149.2 ft/hour

In the Gulf of Mexico (GOM), a 24 TitanUltra set a world record for the longest 24 PDC section.The bit drilled 4,645 ft at an ROP of 107 ft/hour. This is also the first known 24 PDC run that

has drilled more than a 15 inclination on a RSS through salt lithology in the GOM. Low vibration

was registered, and the bit was dull graded 1-1-WT-A-X-I-NO-TD

The most recent record was set in Australia where a 26 TitanUltra bit set an ROP world record.

The bit drilled 3,304 ft at an incredible ROP of 144.35 ft/hour, thus cutting 12 hrs of drilling

time, saving the customer approximately $500,000 US in rig costs alone

Applications

TitanUltra bits are a series of large & ultra large diameter, ultra-stable fixed cutter bits that incorporateunique design features to prevent and/or mitigate lateral and torsional vibrations that may be created

while drilling. The latest technology cutters, body structure design, hydraulics, and field-proven design

prediction software are utilized to design bits with record-breaking performance in large diameter hole

sections where inertial BHA forces can be enormous. TitanUltra fixed cutter bits are available in

diameters of14 and larger. They are specifically designed to address the majority of

drilling/operational challenges associated with deepwater, large diameter sections and high-end land

wells where the lithology consists mostly of soft to moderately hard sediments and salt formations.

Important: During its experimental phase the bit was run in different sizes with the experimental names

E1019 and E1016. To see corresponding experimental nomenclature with the new nomenclature,

please refer to theTitanUltra List of Existing Products.
