Today’s fast-paced automotive assembly environments require tightening and

press-fit technology that is flexible enough to accommodate change and accurate

enough to meet exacting standards. All standard products are designed and

manufactured in-house to the Bosch Rexroth quality requirements. Rexroth offers

a range of open solutions from stationary spindle-type tightening and press-fit

systems for automated assembly, to hand-held smart tools that allow for rapidly

changing tasks and variable technology with simple handling.

Smart, flexible systems

Each Rexroth system offersWindows®-based software andmodular construction for fastset-up, integration, andreconfiguration. Standardcomponents make extensionssimple, and components areeasy to change out for taskmodification.

Virtual plug-and-play

Rexroth tightening and press-fitsystems and their componentsfeature plug-in ease. On thetightening systems and smarttools, the card racks featurecompact slide-in modules that

can be quickly plugged in,allowing for fast startup andeasy operation.

Ease of data collection

To meet today’s demand fordata collection, Rexrothtightening and press-fit systemsare programmable for gatheringdiverse information. Importantcriteria such as date, time,torque applied, angle, numberof turns, and other data areeasily recorded. The data maybe printed in tabular formor in screen captures fordocumentation or historicaltracking.

Modular spindles

The modular IP 54 spindles

enable precise adjustments of

the spindle to the tightening

task at hand, as well as the

necessary precision and safety

requirements. The spindles are

endurance-tested for 1 million

load cycles. Sizes range from

0.6-12 Nm to 48-1,000 Nm.

Control components

The SE301/302 tightening

controller monitors and

controls the tightening process

and carries out the system

diagnostic. A digital servo

amplifier controls the system’s

reliable EC motor, and features

integrated motor protection.

Open interface modules

Open interface architecture

allows for flexibility in choosing

data communications systems.

Rexroth spindle and hand-held

tightening systems allow for

Ethernet, INTERBUS-S,

Profibus-DP, Serial Data and

24V-I/O protocols.

Maintenance-free

eddy-current transducers

Uptime is promoted with eddy-

current transducer technology

that provides a sturdy, wear-free

torque transducer suitable for

all production situations. A

rotating torsion shaft is combined

with joining slotted sleeves that

are surrounded by a coil that

induces an eddy current in the

slots. The measuring transducer

provides a voltage signal that is

proportional to the torque.

Each Rexroth tightening system

is typically provided as a total

package, complete with a range

of rugged process cabinets and

cable sets.

Multiple-spindle tightening systemsThe Rexroth Tightening System 300 offers:

• A reliable controller-and-tightening spindle configuration

• Networking as many as 40 tightening channels

• Single connector cables linking controller and servo amplifierto provide both power supply and communications

• Cable distances up to 100 meters using digital data

Pistol grip, right angle, and

straight nutrunners

The EC pistol grip nutrunner

features wear-free drive and

sensor technology for a long

service life. Integrated digital

measuring and control

electronics promote precision.

Right-angle and straight

nutrunners are comprised of

the EC base unit plus angled

or straight output drive

components.

Control components

The SEH302 controller, together

with the LTH12 servo amplifier

and a Smart Tool, forms a

tightening channel. Programming

is simple and flexible via a PC.

Convenient system boxes

Smart tools are provided with

system boxes to efficiently

accommodate nutrunner, cable,

card and controller components.

All boxes allow interface with

INTERBUS-S, Profibus-DP,

24V-1/O, ASCII or RS232

protocols.

Operating system for

spindles and smart tools

The BS300 operating system

runs on Pentium® or compatible

microprocessor computer

systems with a minimum

of 32 MB main memory

using Windows® 95/98 or

NT ®operating system

(4.0 or higher). Software is

compatible for spindles and

hand tools.

Accessories

Accessories include cables along

with user-friendly torque brace

adapters, handles, extensions,

tool hangers, bails, and flanges.

Convenient socket storage trays

are also available.

Hand-held smart toolsThe System 300 Smart Tool is a hand-held nutrunner that:

• Addresses a range of tasks through multiple programs

• Ensures fast, secure implementation by providing automaticrecognition of the type of nutrunner

• Allows programming via the BS300 Windows®-based software

• Common controls platform for spindles and hand tools

Compact presses

Three standard space-saving

presses, the PS 6, PS 20 and PS

50, offer 6 kN to 50 kN ranges.

Press-fit forces, path, stroke and

time are measured constantly by

the integrated sensor system, and

are transferred as measured values

directly to the control unit.

Control components

The PE 110 press control and

LTE 12 and LTE 45 power sec-

tions are protected in all-metal

housings IP54 rated. Process

results, status and faults are

displayed on plain-text and

LED display elements.

User-friendly

operating system

The operating system utilizes

Windows®95/98 or Windows NT®

(4.0 or higher) operating systems

to permit rapid input and

modification of process data.

Easy-to-read menus allow user

authorization checks, user

instruction displays, data transfer

from the computer to the control,

and many other functions.

Accessories

Cables, spindle protection lines,

command lines, connection

lines, adapter boxes, and meas-

urement converters make up a

full array of accessories available

with every press-fit system.
