use some of these features in my own thriller opening to make it as best I can

Lots dark lighting used, spotlight on some characters to create suspicion

Setting is always a secretive place to create mystery

Criminal is not always clear from costume, such as a stereotypical criminal wears black

Cigarettes used to show status in a group Newspaper used to insight audience Guns for violence, typical of a thriller

Point of View shots to include audience in storyline

High angle shot to highlight a weak character Low angle shot to show a dominant character Close ups to show emotion Two shots to show relationships between

characters

Sound bridges to link different scenes for the story

Voice of God to narrate for audience only

Eerie and mysterious non-diegetic music Diegetic sound of machine, sounding

like gun shots, used for adrenaline

Slow paced to show story and normality of events

Speeds up with action to add excitement Fade in to link scenes Deliberate use of camera to cut out face

of character, adding mystery Use of character to create a wipe cut
