Cleveland Heights rebounded from a tough loss in Week 1 to shutout Glenville, 17-0, on Sept. 6.

The Tigers, who lost to Medina in the opener, bounced back in a huge way with a dominating victory at home in Week 2.

Cleveland Heights defeated Glenville with a 12-yard touchdown reception from Bay Harvey to Jayvion Holcomb and a 1-yard goal line plunge from Justin Wodtly.

“Our defensive and offensive coordinators put together a great plan,” Heights coach Mac Stephens said.

“The kids came to play and were excited to play against a quality team after losing a tough one in Week 1.”

The Tigers are 1-1 on the season with a game against Shaker Heights on tap in Week 3.

The defense held a very talented Tarblooders squad off the scoreboard.

“Diego Bremer came up with some big-time plays on defense and our triple-option offense was in a good rhythm,” Stephens said.

Garfield Heights and Shaker Heights will join an expanding Lake Erie League over the next 12-month period.

Shaker Heights Red Raiders will exit the Greater Cleveland Conference and join the LEL beginning in August

2020. Garfield Heights rejoins the LEL after leaving the league more than a decade ago. The Bulldogs have

played most recently as an independent, and will join the new 8-team LEL halfway through the 2019-2020

school year.

Both Garfield Heights and Shaker Heights were previously LEL members, with Garfield departing in 2007 and

Shaker in 2012. Both joined the Northeast Ohio Conference, which disbanded by 2015 with eight of those

members forming the GCC.
