    Miljenko asked for help re making off a block on the end of a line and I promised to look for some pictures for him.This picture of the foot of Gulnara's foremast shows two line which I think are made off in the manner he was referring to:

    This is the method I used; a ring or hook could be used instead of an eyelet:

    The other blocks on the rail were made off using brass wire. I made a noose on the end of the wire and then pulled it tight rund the block.In this case the wire tail was then wrapped round a drill bit to form an eye but it can also be bent to form a hook.

    (The wire is 0.3mm soft brass).
