The StoryThe Thornwood has always been an important location on Immoren. Within the Iron Kingdoms the Thornwod lies between Cygnar, Khador and occupied Llael. Additionally several Trollkin Kriels live in the forest at constant odds with the Circle forces that are continually in the area, plus the constant probing forces from other factions. These battles and skirmishes are costly to all involved but oftentimes the violence is indiscriminant, especially to the land itself. Many kriel stones and Circle of Orboros places of power have been destroyed or damaged irreparably. Necrotech foundries and tunnels undermine and taint delicately-placed spell lines. The great forest suffers.

An ancient power has long been imprisoned beneath the Thornwood. Now that numerous places of power have been ravaged or desecrated its bonds are weakening. The tales and myths about this power are many. The priests of Menoth weave stories of a great evil that could decimate whole cities with but a thought. The local kriels have parables that tell how even the Mountain Kings were cowed before this terrible power. Some say it is one of Lord Toruks children, others speak of an even older power.

Regardless of what legends others believe there is something within the Thornwood, all can feel it. How will you deal with this new threat? Will you join the Protectors and strengthen the land and rebind this evil in its prison? Or will you join the Defilers and destroy the totems of binding that remain and set loose this power in hopes of gaining its favor or bending it to your will? The choice is yours to make.

Campaign OverviewThis Campaign will begin at Gameshire on Thursday, January 8th and will run for 5 weeks until Friday February 6th. At 8pm on February 6th the winners will be announced and prizes will be handed out (presence not necessary to win).

Event RulesThere is a $5 entry fee to play in the Thornwood Crusade. Players will choose their Faction (Cygnar, Khador, Skorne, Legion, etc) and their Alliance (Defiler or Protector). The choice is final.

This campaign uses a free-play format that awards players points for winning/playing games, painting and in game Achievements. All games will be played using the scenario for the week. The point total of each game will be decided by the players playing said game. There is no limit to how many games a player may play during the course of the event but there is a 25 point limit for game points each week.

Achievements are very specific conditions that must be satisfied and are awarded 1 time only. The list of Achievements is located below.Players earn hobby points for painting models in the faction they are playing within the campaign. These models do not have to be used at any time during a campaign game. Hobby points are awarded only for models painted during the course of this campaign. Models painted prior to the start of the campaign do not count. For a model to count for hobby points it must be primed, basecoated, painted with a reasonable diversity of color and based. Individual elements of the miniature must be distinguishable by color or shading. For instance, flesh must be a different color than hair or clothing; metal should be a different color than leather. Use the list below to determine how many hobby points a given model/unit is worth.

Warcasters, warlocks, warbeasts, warjacks, and solos:3 points for large-based models, 2 points for medium based models, and 1 point for small-based models Battle engines: 5 points Colossals and gargantuans: 7 points Units of two models: 2 points Units of three to six models: 3 points Units of seven or more models: 4 points Units of only medium-based models: 1 additional point Units of only large-based models: 2 additional points

Sportsmanship and Rules DisputesThe objective of the campaign is for everyone to have a good time. Players should remain courteous and patient with their opponents and the EO's (Aaron Farmer and Phil Silvia). Players must accept all rulings made by an EO whether or not they agree. An EO always has the final word on rules questions or debates.

We assume all players are good sports who understand fair play. If a dispute arises, call an EO for assistance. Players will remain mature, polite, and fair to their opponents. This includes but is not limited to offensive or abusive conduct, bullying, cheating, constant rule arguments, stalling game play, and other immature actions.

This campaign uses special scoring called Achievements. Many Achievements are difficult to obtain during the course of a game. Players will not collaborate to obtain Achievements by not playing as hard as they normally would. This is called Achievement Farming. An EO may deny the scoring of an Achievement if they suspect farming. Play like you got a pair!

Playing the CampaignThe campaign uses a free-play format that encourages players to play games. Simply find an opponent, choose a point total, adjust army values due to territory control, set the table up for that weeks scenario and play the game. At the games conclusion report to an EO and have the game recorded. The winner gets to apply the Command points for the game level to a territory of their choice. It takes difference of 15 Command points to control a territory. There is no limit to the number of command points a territory can have.Since this is a campaign it is possible for one Alliance to begin to overpower the other. Games will not always be even, especially towards the end of the campaign. As Alliances begin to gain territories their armies will reflect that their side is winning the crusade.
