This Spring gather friends and family and hold a special Forget Me Not Tea Party to raise funds in aid of Aching Arms.A tea party is a great way to get together and can be held anywhere – at work, at home, at a village hall or even at the park (weather permitting!) and can be as big or small as you want to make it.

The most important thing is to have fun and raise money in aid of Aching Arms!

The last two years have been a great success. We have been overwhelmed with how well you supported the Forget Me Not Tea Party fundraiser and this year we are hoping it will be even more successful.

What a good way to beat the winter blues by planning an entertaining fundraising tea party for friends and family in the Spring!

How to hold a Forget Me Not Tea Party

1. Think of a themeYou could go for a sophisticated afternoon tea, a fun coffee morning or a teddy bears picnic where everyone could bring along their special bear.

2. Type of tea partyWill your tea party be a community fundraiser where you try to get as many people as possible to come along or would you prefer a smaller gathering for afternoon tea? Are you going to organise it on your own? Maybe you could team up with a friend or two to share the workload?

3. Decide your location and dateAt home, at work, in the community – think about who you want to invite and how many people you can fit into your chosen venue. Perhaps your employer would allow you to hold a tea party at the office, or maybe you and your neighbours may like to get together for a garden tea party? Once you know where, the next step is when - arrange a date for your tea party, which can be held any time between March and June 2018.

4. Organise fundraisingThink about how you will raise money in aid of Aching Arms. Will you charge a general admission fee or simply ask for donations for tea and cake? Perhaps you would prefer to run an event where people pay a set amount each and you provide a table service? Try to think of ways to reduce your outgoings, like asking friends to bake or donate cakes, borrow crockery and cutlery, seek donations from local businesses for a raffle.

Why hold a Forget Me Not Tea Party?Last year you raised £17,000 by holding tea parties - a fantastic amount that allowed us at Aching Arms to continue to bring comfort to hundreds of bereaved families across the UK.

We now work with 90 hospitals in England and Wales and continue to post out approximately 30 bears a month to bereaved families. We provide bears free of charge to hospitals and we also offer a free awareness training programme for midwives.

Latest figures show that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage and around 1 in 200 births are stillbirths.

This year we need to raise at least £40,000 to ensure that we can continue to supply bears to our hospitals and provide training to health professionals.

This is how your money is spent:

- £10 for a bear- £175 pays for an awareness training session at

a hospital- £260 pays for us to supply a hospital with bears and

leaflets to give to hospitals

“ I loved organising a tea party last year. It was wonderful to bring together so many people from the community and raise money for such a worthy cause.”

“ Holding a tea party in memory of my baby was so special to me and my family. It was lovely to do something positive in her name.”
