“ ”In Ephesians 1:3 we read, “Blessed be the God and Father

of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3). The verse discusses the spiritual blessings we receive from God not the material blessings God provides for us. Spiritual blessings include things like being chosen by God (Ephesians 1:4), being adopted as sons (Ephesians 1:5), being accepted by God (Ephesians 1:6), and being redeemed and forgiven of our sins (Ephesians 1:7). Ephesians 1:3 teaches every spiritual blessing is found in Christ. Outside of Christ there are no spiritual blessings. Those in Christ receive every spiritual blessing. How does one get into Christ where all spiritual blessings are? “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ” (Galatians 3:27). Baptism is what puts one into Christ where we find all spiritual blessings.

Victoria Madigan selected to be ‘Principal for a Day

Lake Butler Middle School recently held a walkathon to raise money for the benefit of students and staff.

Students who brought in any amount were entered into a drawing to win a gift card. Students who brought in over $10 were entered into a drawing to throw a pie into the eyes of Principal Carolyn Parrish and Vice Principal Steve Hoard.

Two students per grade level, for a total of eight students were chosen to “Pie the Principal.” Students who raised over $100 were treated to a pizza party with the principal and assistant principal.

Victoria Madigan, who brought in over $100, was selected to be “Principal for a Day.”

The class raising the highest dollar amount was April Crawford’s with $628. The class with the highest percentage was Katy McQueen’s. Each of these classes will receive a party of their choice.

Overall, the fundraising event was a huge success. A special thank you to all who participated.

crevice, never finding any threat. The whole incident lasted

short of three hours.Similar incidents happened

in both Jacksonville and Gainesville within hours of each other. In fact, Summers told UCSO Capt. Doug York that he had just cleared a CVS store in Jacksonville for the same thing. And then Gainesville reported an incident at a Dollar General.

When UCSO deputies responded to CVS, York had other officers head to businesses throughout the city in case the caller was using CVS as a distraction to tie up law reinforcement resources with the intent of burglarizing somewhere else — but nothing ever materialized.

“That’s a old classic (method),” said York, who has extensive training in, and experience with, bomb threats.

He praised the quick response by all the first responders involved.

Union County Sheriff Brad Whitehead said that “everything went real well,” adding that it is still under investigation.
