Business Continued coming school year. When the blank forms are used, the entire form text is printed by TxEIS, avoiding those annoying alignment issues.

Non-Employee records… A new maintenance page was added allowing you to establish non-employee records without entering them to the Human Resources application. This page is located under the new Maintenance menu option in District Administration.

No account code? No problem! The Allow JV Account Creation field was added to the District Administration > User Profiles > Permissions tab; if selected, you can save a journal voucher entry on the Finance > Maintenance > Postings > Journal Budget and Journal Actual tabs with an account code that does not exist in the Chart of Accounts. The account code will be created upon saving the record if all account code components exist in the tables.

Student Continued Time to stock up on envelopes. These reports will display the student or parent/guardian’s address in the window of a number 10 standard window envelope.• SGR1160 Interim Progress Rpt from Gradebook• SGR1300 Secondary Rpt Cards (2 sem)• SGR1350 4 Sem Report Card• SGR1400 Elementary Rpt Card

Things change. Texas has required that schools no longer use social security numbers as staff IDs, but instead use their district-generated employee numbers. We’ve got you covered. The new Set Staff ID to Employee Number utility in Registra-tion will do just that for you. Other pages and reports have been changed, too. Check out the Release Documentation for more information.

MEET THE TCC

Charlyn Sciacca TxEIS Student Specialist

Q: How long have you worked at the TCC? A: Twenty-seven years and counting.

Q: What were one or two of your favorite projects? A: Back when the program was called RSCCC, I enjoyed be-ing part of a committee which had input into the design of the Elementary Grading application. Also, have enjoyed convert-ing data from other programs into RSCCC/TxEIS. You really learn a lot about the logic of how the program works that way.

Q: What’s something you enjoy doing when you get home from work or on the weekends? A: My husband and I both like to fish. Although I’m what you call a “fair weather” fisherperson. If my husband is starting to catch fish, my line goes into the water. If not, I have my Kindle and also a set of binoculars for bird watching.

Q: Do you have any pets? A: I’ve had all kinds of pets over the years, but mainly cats. My most unusual pets were a turtle (when I was eight) and a guinea pig (when I was in my 20’s).

Do you think just tells you what you already know? Think again. You’ll learn something new every time you click the little, but powerful, button on the top right of any TxEIS application. Try it and see for yourself.

Installation steps have changed!See the txSuite Installation Checklist for the revised instructions.

What Does That Mean? Before, data was retrieved from copies of the Student database, which were “transformed” into data for txConnect using the Transformation Service. This process occurred at specific points during the day.

Now, txConnect parent portal data is live! The data is pulled directly from the Student database. Every time a parent requests data, the real-time data is captured in a “snapshot” that remains static for the remainder of the session. Need to refresh data? No problem. Each time you log on, a new “snapshot” is captured with up-to-the-minute data.

Why is This Better?• When a parent logs on,

he is viewing the verylatest data. No needto wait for the serverto refresh to get morecurrent information.

• Plus, there are fewerchances that errorsare introduced in theprocess.
