THE PLOTThis is a musical written by Arthur Laurents. West side story is The modern reinterpretation of Romeo and Juliet on the background of the Upper West side story of New York. Instead families there are two gangs: the Sharks leaded by Bernardo and the Jets leaded by Riff. Even if they belong to two rival gangs, when Tony and Maria meet at a dance is love at the first moment. The Jets and Sharks do a decisive battle for the control of territory. Tony tries to calm the bottle but Bernardo hurts to death Riff. Tony kills Bernardo. Maria asks help to Anita to escape with Tony, but anger and misunderstandings intertwine clouding souls of these characters… and when the two lovers meet, a tragic event will mark their destiny.
