Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time
The Gospel story of Jesus’ encounter with Zacchaeus
makes for an ideal stewardship reflection. So does today’s
first reading from the Book of Wisdom. Good stewards
have faith in, and give thanks for, an almighty and power-
ful God who transcends the universe, but who gives per-
sonal attention to every human being. God loves his crea-
tion, his people. He lives in them, and through his Holy
Spirit, instills a fundamental goodness in them. Good stew-
ards recognize this movement of the Spirit as a gift, and
make efforts to cultivate this gift and grow in their faith.
Take time this week to stop and look around you, be aware
of God’s awe-inspiring creation, and give thanks for God’s
loving care and concern for each of us.
Note: Note: Note: Note: If you would like to submit a name please contact the Parish Office. Names are removed af-ter 4 weeks unless re-submitted. Bold Bold Bold Bold names are new to the list this week.

Gospel: Luke 19:1-10
Zacchaeus wanted to see Jesus.
Question for Children: Jesus showed that he loved
Zacchaeus by having supper with him. How does Jesus
show his love for you?
Question for Youth: Jesus saw Zacchaeus as he was –
mistakes and all. What masks, if any, do you hide
behind so others won't see who you really are? Who
do you trust to see your true self?
Question for Adults: Why do you suppose Jesus was
so kind to Zacchaeus? What lesson do you draw from
this reading regarding those who are considered
"public sinners" today?

SECOND COLLECTION
We will have a second collection next weekend for the Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS). The AMS is the only source of Catholic chaplains for the US Military and Department of Veterans Af-fairs Medical Centers and are responsible for ap-proximately 1.8M Catholics. Unlike a conventional diocese the AMS has no parishes or parish registries so they do not have weekly collections and rely sole-ly on the generosity of private donations to support their ministry. Please be as generous as possible. Thank you!

LOOKING FOR A VOLUNTEER (S) If you have a few hours a week that you would like to give to an individual needing a visit, you are the person we need! We receive requests for visits with a homebound parishioner. This would only be as a companion, no cleaning, nursing, etc. help needed. Visiting the needy, the lonely, the sad is indeed being Christ-like . If you would like to participate, please call Janice Burger at 241-6314, ext. 121, and leave a message. She will contact you and answer any questions or provide further information.
Christian Services
Moved By Mercy “God offers his gift of mercy to each and every one of us, no matter what. But we have to decide to receive that gift—whether or not to turn away from sin and turn, instead, toward him. We have to decide wheth-er we want God.” (an excerpt from Cardinal
Timothy M. Dolan’s letter at the World Youth Day in Poland). This theme of Mercy is also the 2016/17 theme for the Re-spect Life Program. When we let our hearts be moved by God's mercy, it shapes everything. As Pope Francis said, "We are called to show mercy because mercy has first been shown to us.” From each tiny child waiting to be born, to individuals nearing death, all are precious and deserve our care and pro-tection. Women and men suffering after abortion, individuals tempted to end their lives, couples longing to conceive a child, people pushed to the margins of society by a "throwaway culture," expectant mothers facing challenging pregnancies, and every other person—each "has a place in God's heart from all eternity" (Amoris Laetitia. . . , 168). Let's ask God to make us channels of his loving mercy: Lord, help us to receive your mercy and turn to you each moment. And please guide us in extending your mercy to others today. Now is the time for mercy.” 40 Days for Life Vigil with: Prayer and fasting, constant vigil, and community outreach. The Fall 2016 40 Days for Life Prayer Vigil campaign continues through Sunday, Nov. 6. For more information about the Indianapolis vigil, please go to: 40daysindy.org

The Mercy of Jesus
Jesus, forgiver of sins. Jesus, healer of the sick And brokenhearted. Jesus, lover of souls.
The year of Mercy is fast Coming to a close. However, Jesus' mercy and Unconditional love continues To give us hope forever more.
No ma#er what life demands, Jesus is there supporting us as We bend the knee in repentance. As we light a candle in our heart And as we pray without ceasing. The mercy of Jesus is always With us. ~Trudy Bledsoe
