Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, People of Our Lady, Mother of the Church Parish, This coming week we will celebrate two important days. November 1st is the Solemnity of All Saints in which we honor all who already reached the glory of heaven. The Church from the beginning was aware that some saints were known by name, and besides them, there were many more known to God alone. On All Saints Day we celebrate also the unity of the Church, the unity of those who are on their pilgrimage way and those who have already reached the goal. Every Sunday we profess “…I believe in the communion of saints…” The Saints, in the meaning of early the Church, are all the baptized. We profess our faith in the unity of those bap-tized who are on earth and those who are in heaven. We are One Body. On November 2nd is the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed, commonly called All Souls Day. The connection between All Saints and All Souls is not just by calendar days. Purgatory is a vestibule of heaven, there is a one-way direction from there. The next step is life in the joy and in the glory of heaven.

From time to time we hear a prayer for the deceased who have no help. In fact, there is no one in such a state. At every celebration of the Eucharist, the Church offers prayers for all who have died. In November we remember in a special way “our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection” (Eucharistic Prayer II). In the narthex of our church we can find a table of re-membrance with pictures of our beloved deceased. Please, feel free to bring pictures of those who were dear to your hearts. All Souls Day offering envelopes with names of our beloved deceased will be kept in the front of the altar and we will include them in our

prayers. The book with names of parishioners who have died in the last year will stay in the front of the altar as well for the following weeks. During both Masses on All Souls Day we will commemorate in a special way those who have died in the last year. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them! May God bless you, Fr. Andrew

    SHRINE OF REMEMBRANCE

On “All Souls’ Day,” the Church commemorates and in-tercedes for those who have died.

Tradition here at OLMC is to invite the entire parish to re-member the dearly departed by bringing pictures of their loved ones to the tables in the narthex beginning the weekend of Octo-ber 21st and 22nd.

Pictures will remain on the ta-bles and should be picked up the weekend of No-vember 11th and 12th. Thank you.

    November 4-12

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is collecting non-perishable, unexpired food for St. Anselm, our par-ish food pantry, and the food pantry at St. Cornelius. There will be baskets in the narthex and at the south entrance for the food. In Sunday’s first reading, the Lord hears the cries of those in need, saying he is compassionate. Then in the Gospel, Jesus says to love your neighbor as yourself. We can be compas-sionate like the Lord, and love our hungry neighbors as ourselves.

Eucharistic Adoration First Friday, November 3,

    from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Prayer in Polish is from 1 to 2 p.m., and the Divine Mercy Chaplet begins at 3 p.m., followed by Bene-diction. In Sunday’s Gospel, we hear that the great-est and first commandment is to love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, soul, and mind. Let us show our love for the Lord by coming to adore him.

    Mass Requests/Memorial Requests Important

While we try our best to honor all Mass Intentions, all Mass requests must be completed at least 3 to 4 weeks in advance due to various printing deadlines. Currently we do not have any weekday or weekend masses available until the weekend of November 18th and after due to the number of filled re-quests. Suggested donations per Mass are $10. Please note that the Sanctuary Lamp and Bread & Wine requests fill-up quickly and we have a limited number of dates available. Please contact the rectory for availability. Sanctuary Lamp requests for 2017 are filled. There are a number of requests available for 2018. We do have a num-ber of weeks open for Bread and Wine requests for 2017. The cost is $50 for the Bread and Wine. All Mass or remembrance requests can be made in person at the rectory or by completing the Mass request envelope that can be found in the Narthex. Please contact the Recto-ry for availability. Please insert your payment in the enve-lope and drop it in the collection basket or the mail slot at the Rectory. While we try to accommodate different situa-tions, especially with our homebound parishioners, we can-not honor mass intentions over the phone.
