Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord April 1st, 2018

PARISH NEWS Dear Parishioners and friends, Happy Easter! May this Easter season bring you great joy and comfort in the sure knowledge that God is ever merciful. Today we enter into a fifty-day period of dwelling in the Paschal Mystery. Fifty days of surrendering in joyful faith and love as the Spirit of God takes possession of our lives. Fifty days of mystagogy, of walking with the newly baptized every more deeply into the baptismal mysteries of death and resurrection. It is a time of intensified consciousness, finely tuned awareness, awakened memory. The great fifty days of Easter is an invitation to explore more deeply the weather of the heart, to awaken out memory of God’s presence and power in our lives, to look more closely at all the rich and varied textures of creation. I am happy to say that we finally had the examination of the nave stained glass windows this past Tuesday. A full report will be made available at a later date. I would like to thank everyone for their cooperation, squeezing into the rectory dining room for Mass, our little church as the big one was closed. During Easter week, too, our Director of Music Ministry, Alessandro, will be inspecting a pipe organ in a recently closed church in the Archdiocese. As you most likely know at this point, our organ is dying, so much so that we could not even use it for Palm Sunday. This unexpected organ expense is truly a worry, but it is Easter, so let us rejoice. Have a wonderful Easter season, and thank you for joining us for this great feast, the holiest feast on our Church calendar. If you are here for the first time, or returning after being absent for some time, know that you are most welcome, and our prayer is better because you are with us. And I hope to see more of you.

Again, Happy Easter, and please pray for peace.

NOTICIAS PARROQUIALES

Y espero volver a verlo. Padre Duffell The Theatre of Light strives to deliver illuminating performances and subject matter that are uplifting, relevant, and compelling and (most important) entertaining to segments of our community whose access to traditional theatre may be restricted. We are welcoming Blessed Sacrament parishioners free of charge for the following performances here at the Theatre at Blessed Sacrament- all performances start at 7PM and run one hour: Sunday, April 8, Saturday April 14, Sunday, April 15, Saturday April 21 & Sunday April 22

The Saint Vincent De Paul Society will begin this month at Blessed Sacrament. The SVDP Society are men and women who strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to individuals in need. SVDP is part of an international society of friends united by a spirit of poverty, humility, and sharing, which is nourished by prayer and reflection. Energized by the awareness that service to our brother or sister in need is in fact an encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ, members of the SVDP Society are keenly aware that poverty, suffering, and loneness are present for millions in our communities. Please listen for a Mass announcement on the second Sunday of Easter, and think about signing up on the following Sunday. The first meeting will be announced and held later in the month. The JoyJ initiative is pleased to announce that its next two Homeless Outreach are being held on Saturday, April 14th & April 21st. The packing of the comfort bags will begin at 9:15am. From 10:00 – 10:15am Group location assignments, group photo, and prayer and from 10:15 - 10:30am McDonald's Gift Cards are dispersed and the groups go on their way. If you want to participate, please send a message to [email protected] or leave your name at the Rectory.
