Welcome and Announcements

Prelude

(Congregation will please stand.) (Congregation responses are in bold.)GATHERING

The Confession and Forgiveness

P: In the name of the Father, and of the + Son and of the Holy SpiritC: Amen

P: God of all mercy and consolation, come to the help of your people, turning us from our sin to live for you alone. Give us the power of your Holy Spirit that we may confess our sin, receive your forgiveness, and grow into the fullness of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

C: AmenP: Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another.P: Most merciful God, C: we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free

ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and

2

lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

P: In the mercy of Almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for us, and for His sake God forgives us all our sins. As a called and ordained minister of the church of Christ, and by His authority, I declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

C: Amen

Prayer of the DayAlmighty God, you have overcome death through your only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, and have opened to us the gate of everlasting life. We humbly beseech you that as you put into our minds good desires, so by your continual help we may bring them to good effect; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. WORDFIRST READING: ISAIAH 25:6-96On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined. 7And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations. 8He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken. 9It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”PSALM 161Protect me, O God, for I take ref- | uge in you;*

I have said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, my good a- | bove all other.”2All my delight is upon the godly that are | in the land,*

upon those who are noble a- | mong the people.3But those who run after | other gods*

shall have their troubles | multiplied.4Their libations of blood I | will not offer,*

nor take the names of their gods up- | on my lips.5O Lord, you are my portion | and my cup;*

it is you who up- | hold my lot.6My boundaries enclose a | pleasant land;*

indeed, I have a | goodly heritage.7I will bless the Lord who | gives me counsel;*

my heart teaches me, night | after night.8I have set the Lord al- | ways before me;*

because he is at my right hand I | shall not fall.9My heart, therefore, is glad, and my spir- | it rejoices;*

my body also shall | rest in hope.10For you will not abandon me | to the grave,*

nor let your holy one | see the Pit.5

11You will show me the | path of life;*in your presence there is fullness of joy, and in your right hand are

pleasures for- | evermore.SECOND READING: 1 CORINTHIANS 15:1-111Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you — unless you believed in vain. 3For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. 9For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. 11Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.P: GOSPEL PROCESSIONAL verses 1 & 2

“Almighty God, Your Word is Cast” (page 11) #516 P: The Holy Gospel according to ST. MARK THE 16TH CHAPTER C: Glory to you, O Lord GOSPEL: MARK 16:1-81When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint {Jesus}. 2And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. 3And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” 4And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back — it was very large. 5And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. 6And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to 6

Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.” 8And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.P: This is the Gospel of the Lord. C: Praise to you, O Christ.GOSPEL RECESSIONAL: verse 3 & 4“Almighty God, Your Word is Cast” (page 10) #516THE SERMON Pastor Ours Hymn: "Christ the Lord is Risen Today” (page 12) #369

THANKSGIVING NICENE CREEDWe believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary, and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. Who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy *catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen *(“catholic” (lower-case c) denotes universal or Christian church).

HOLY COMMUNIONP: The Lord be with you.C: And also with you.P: Lift up your hearts.7

C: We lift them to the Lord.P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.C: It is right to give our thanks and praise.P: It is indeed right and salutary that we should at all times and in all

places offer thanks and praise to you, O Lord, holy Father, almighty and everliving God. But chiefly we are bound to praise you for the glorious resurrection of our Lord; for he is the true Passover Lamb who gave himself to take away our sin, who by his death has destroyed death, and by his rising has brought us to eternal life. And so, with Mary Magdalene and Peter and all the witnesses of the resurrection, with earth and sea and all their creatures, and with angels and archangels, cherubim and seraphim, we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

THE SANCTUS: "Holy, Holy, Holy”

P: THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYER AND WORDS OF INSTITUTIONC: Amen THE LORD’S PRAYERC: Our Father,

who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Congratulations to Carson Corl, Austin Cox, Gavin Hunsucker, and Mason Yost who received their First Communion today! Thank You to Ann Miller who made the sugar eggs for the kids! The Easter Egg is a symbol of the Miracle of Birth and the Beauty of Creation as each Spring Renews the Earth. But even more, it represents Christ rising from the dead and the message of new life and hope. Each brightly colored egg reflects a special part of the gift of Joy and Gladness that Christ brings to every heart. All of the flowers, except the lilies, are red, due to the white geraniums not being healthy enough to purchase.
