The Hunar Foundation Working Towards a Skilled Pakistan Instructor’s Training in Dubai In March 2013, Ms. Humaira Shahnawaz, Head of Cosmetology for THF’s Women’s Institute attended training in Hair Color Service in Dubai. The training was organized and sponsored by Ms. Shabana Karim (owner of Enspa UAE) at Salon Educators Academy, L’Oreal Academy & Pastels Salon, Dubai. Ms. Natallie O Sullivan trained Ms. Humaira for a deeper understanding of science of colors and hair. Corporate Governance In keeping with THF’s view of good control, management systems, and transparency, one of the top four audit firms of Pakistan, Ernst & Young Ford Rhodes Sidat Hyder, have been appointed as THF’s auditors. SPORTS GALA 2013 EVENTS THF believes that Sports plays a vital role in the development and growth of one’s character. THF provides its students and faculty with various indoor and outdoor sports, which gives everyone a chance to participate and enjoy their leisure time apart from their work and studies. A Sports Gala was held at DMS Technical Institute, Karachi and was well attended by students, faculty and other staff. The event consisted of table tennis, cricket, volley ball, badminton, tug of war and relay race. Winners were awarded trophies and certificates. THF WASHINGTON DC FUNDRAISER ‘Friends of Pakistan’; one of the oldest Pakistani social work organizations in the US chose THF to be the beneficiary of their annual fund raiser. The event was held in Washington DC in early 2013, where Dr. Nafis Sadiq, ex Secretary General of the United Nations was the key note speaker. In recognition of THF’s contribution in promoting Technical & Vocational Education & Training (TEVT) in Pakistan, the Skill Development Council presented THF with a shield at their annual awards distribution day. This will be a flagship institute and once complete and fully operational, the institute will have the capacity to accommodate up to 750 students per year. THF is actively seeking funding for workshop equipment and tuition. Project is expected to commence operations in June 2014. Women’s Institute Delhi Colony, Karachi. THF’s first Women’s Institute is underway in Delhi Colony, Karachi. The project is in its finishing stages and has the capacity to accommodate 600 students per year. The institute will commence operations in June 2014. K-Electric “We, at K-Electric have worked with The Hunar Foundation to uplift the living standards of our employee’s family by enrolling them in the technical courses being offered there. The facility is well outfitted with all the necessary tools and paraphernalia required to teach and train the students. The students can hone their skills at the state-of-the-art technical labs set up at THF. Every student is given individual attention and efforts are made to ensure every student passes out successfully.
