Transcript of The zen of colour - Survey analysis
I have started off my survey by asking this question because I think before I get to the gender and age stuff it will
be worth asking of the person doing the survey has heard about the colouring books for adults. This question would also inform them of the subject of this
survey.
Nearly 73% of people have said that they heard about the colouring book,
this suggest the percentage of my audience that I am aiming for to
persuade them to buy my book which involves original ideas for my colouring
book to make it different than the already existing ones.
The next question was asking about the gender. This question will help me
understand my audience better and it will help to make decision if the product
I am making should appeal more to females or males.
In this question half of my audience were female and other half was male. The result that I received will help me to decide whether the product should
appeal more to males or females in this case it is both genders. This involves doing more audience research into the
target audience for other already existing books.
Another question that is important in this survey which will be helping me to find out more about my target audience is asking about their age. Age is one of the most
common demographic questions asked in surveys. Asking a respondent about Age is
often one of the first demographic questions asked in a survey.
In this question a big percentage of 50 is aged between 18 and 24, the second big percentage is 23% which are people aged between 35 to 44. this gives me an idea of what approx. age range I am aiming for,
which in this case it is people aged from 18 to 44 years old, but this doesn’t mean my
product is going to be restricted only to this age range.
I have asked my audience this question because this will help me to find out where
they have seen the colouring books and how did they hear about them.
By knowing the answers to this question I will know where to advertise my colouring
book to my target audience that I have research and from the answers I got to the
previous question, to persuade the my target audience to buy my colouring book.
By creating this question I wanted to find out if my audience thinks that
creative activities could help them to deal with their every day life and with the stress that they have to deal. I also wanted to find out if creative activity in a form of a
colouring book could potentially help them to get away from stress.
In this question I got a big percentage of people that have said yes, that they think creative activity does help to get away from stress.
This is important information for me which proves the product I am going
to make is going to implement its purpose.
I have asked this question to find out if the product I want to make is a good idea for my audience and if they would be interested in buying a colouring book for themselves to
deal with their stress.
Majority of people have said ‘Yes’. That fact that 63% of people have answered yes, assures me of the function that this book is going to
have.
I wanted to ask my audience this question because I want to know their views and
opinions on the colouring book for adults and also from their opinion get some hints from them which could help me make my
product different from other.
In this question I got a variety of answers where some are similar, they’re short and simple and others give a bigger view on their opinion. Majority of people said that they are good, it makes their creativity
bigger and it is a good way of doing something different in your spare time.
This question is also one of the most important ones in term of marketing and
the product. This questions asks my respondents what is the approx. price
they would be willing to pay for a colouring book for themselves.
In this question majority of people, nearly 41% have have said that they would pay around £5 to £7, but some people said they would pay a little bit more than £7. In conclusion the price I
choose for my colouring book is going to be somewhere between £5 to £10.
This was another important question to ask my respondents as in order to make my colouring book successful and persuade my target audience to buy it I need to know where they’re
more likely to buy it from.
In this question majority of my audience has said that they’re more likely to buy it from a stationary shop
such as WHSmith, Staples or Waterstones. The other 31% has said
they would buy it online.
This was the last question that I have asked my audience because I have been struggling to make the decision what size my colouring book should be, as on the
market there is a loads of different shape and sizes.
In this questions majority of my respondents have said that the A5 size
would be the best and most comfortable for them. I will take this information and use it in production of my product I will
make my colouring book an A5 size.
The target audience for my colouring book are 18 year olds to 44 year olds but this doesn’t mean my product is going to be
restricted only to this age range, but this age range suggest the audience I am aiming to persuade to buy my product. My
audience is going to be both males and females. Internet is going to be the main social media platform to advertise my
product. My colouring book will have to differ in a way from the already existing colouring books for adults in order to encourage my audience to buy the book. The size of the book is going to
be an A5 size. The approx. price for the colouring book that I will have is between £5 to £10. The book is going to be more likely to be bought online. From my secondary research I have found
out that stationary shops that sell books are often not interested in distributing self-publishing author books, therefore I would
probably have to stick with the online method.
I know that if I listen to the opinions that I have received from my audience, my product has a big chance to be successful.
