We want to wish everyone a very happy and joyous holiday season. We can’t believe that 2019 is just about over and we are heading into 2020. Pat and I have several things that we are thankful for especially recovery from two hip replacement surgeries and stent surgery plus celebrating our 50
th wedding
anniversary. We are also blessed with a beautiful family who we will be celebrating with during this holiday season. We are also blessed to be a part of our FL2G family who we will be celebrating with on New Year’s Eve in Ormand Beach and then onto Shrimps R Us to celebrate the new year with all the Florida Chapters. From there FL2G will head to St. Augustine for a few days. We are going to celebrate the beginning of 2020 with a bang and lots of fun. We want to thank our fantastic team and all our members for making our chapter one of the largest chapters in Florida and we know we will continue to have their cooperation next year. HAPPY NEW YEAR AND ALWAYS REMEMBER TO HAVE FUN, FUN, FUN. Harry & Pat Jordan Sr. Chapter Directors – FL2G

My five-year-old granddaughter had a birthday party several weeks ago. She surprised me
with her ability to introduce people. She introduced us to another adult couple and said,
“This is my Grampy Denis. He takes care of my Grandma Nikki.” How right she is. After
my September accident, I was not to put weight on my right foot and my right hand and arm
were in a cast. For six weeks, Denis wheeled me around in a wheelchair. When I was
given the thumbs up to put weight on my foot, I was still unable to use my right hand. For
someone like me, who is VERY right handed, I still needed help. I couldn’t even open a
bottle of water! Denis has been a wonderful caregiver and taken good care of Grandma
Nikki. I am thankful for everything he has done for me. I also want to thank my chapter and
friends for their help and prayers. I am home now and doing my best to rehabilitate the
nerve damage in my hand and wrist. As a friend of mine says, “This too shall pass”, and
Denis will have me back on our new bike doing our usual riding ASAP.
Rather than repeat the rides, events, and activities that are scheduled for the rest of
December and January, I am going to share a holiday family recipe.
2020 is here – ALREADY. Time flies when you’re having FUN. FL2G and the Florida District have lots of activities
planned for 2020. So come join us as often as you can.
May You All have a happy, safe, and healthy holiday season and 2020.

Mom’s Caramels
You will need: a good large pot (ingredients will double in size while boiling), candy
thermometer, 10” x 15” glass pan, and precut wax paper wraps.
Combine in pot, stirring constantly: 1 cup sugar
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup light corn syrup
Cook to 230 degrees – below softball stage
Add: ¼ cup condensed milk
and stir constantly to 240-244 degrees – Not quite hardball stage. Be careful. It can get
too hard.
Take off heat and stir in: ¼ cup butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla
Pour into a buttered glass pan. Cool, but not too much. Cut while caramels are still
warm.
I wrap caramel pieces in wax paper precut into 4”x4” or 4”x6” pieces. Cut wax paper
before making caramels, or the caramels will become too cold. Recipe can be doubled.
ENJOY

If I only knew how to sing, I would break out in happy song but…… that’s not going to
happen, sorry. I don’t want to hurt anyone’s ears. So, I’ll just wish you all a very Merry
Christmas and a very, very Happy New Year! I trust you will have a safe, joyous and
blessed holiday season!
On Thursday, December 5th there were a group of folks that came together from the Ft
Myers and surrounding chapters, that worked together to clean off the range and helped
Denis Turcotte and me paint it for the TRC class as well as an ARC class.
We now have it ready to accommodate ARC classes. I am in the process of getting
another ARC Instructor to assist Ray Vega to conduct the ARC classes there. As soon as
we get a date set for the class it will be posted on the district website as well as notifying
each chapter in the area. Please be patient…It is coming.
Pam and I had a surprise visit from our grandson this past week. He is home on leave
from the Navy for 14 days. Not only a surprise for us but he didn’t tell his mother and
we dropped him off at her front door. I thought she was going to kill me. LOL…She
knew nothing at all about him coming for Christmas. SURPRISE!!
Pam and I do a charity thing every year at this time, we ring the bells for the Salvation
Army. It’s just the thing we do. While doing it we see some sights as you can well
imagine. Some of the worst are the traffic issues. People are not paying attention to
their driving. There are so many distractions right now due to all the different Christmas
displays, people’s costumes, parades, etc. It is a dangerous time to be out on the roads.
Especially for motorcycles! If you are out on your great steed please be extra diligent.
Be ever alert! Put your head on a swivel like you never have ever before. Spin it 360.
They are not looking out for you so look out for them!
If you want to go out and look at the beautiful Christmas lights please relax and take
your four-wheeler. Pick a designated driver and switch off so all can see, and all are
safe. Common sense is the rule. Most of all, be safe and enjoy!
And something that may be furthest from your mind are those raffle tickets but, hey, they
could be good stocking stuffers! Might make a gift to mail to friends? Okay, I’m just
trying to help. Yes, I do have a few thousand left to get out before the rally. So, if your
chapter needs some please let me know and I’ll get them to you.
So hard to believe the Chapter Conference is staring us in the face. Right after Shrimp
‘R’ Us on January1st then the Conference on January 11 & 12th. WOW, right around the
corner. Well, I hope to see many of you there!
Until then please remember to, Ride Safe, Ride Aware,
Rick & Pam Northrop, Chelsea too
