Summary: Curtis has been delivering mail for forty-two years. Today is his last day. And all the mailboxes along his route are filled with surprises.

Kevin Henkes was born on November 27, 1960, in Wisconsin. When he was very young he took art lessons at a museum by his house. Kevin Henkes became an author and an illustrator when he was nineteen years old. He says many of his ideas come directly from his childhood.
His father was a mail carrier. That's where he got the idea for "Good-bye, Curtis."
"I've loved drawing for as long as I can remember."
"Most of my books are about things I know: getting lost, adjusting to a new sibling, making new friends, starting school."
