THE WORLD: FRIEND OR FOE?

Use the repeated addition strategy to solve: 5 x 3

5 + 5 + 5 = 15

3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 15

Angry parents baffled by third grade math

question that claims 5+5+5=15 is NOT correct

Mark 2:13-17

13 Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him, and he began to teach them. 14 As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him. 15 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him.

Mark 2:13-17 (NIV)

16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Mark 2:13-17 (NIV)

but sinners.” (2:17)

The Accusation

You are a

bigot!

NEWOLD TOLERANCEEveryone’s belief is equal.

We must agree with the opinion

of others.

There is no objective truth.

Tolerance is the ultimate virtue.

Everyone has equal right to his

beliefs.

We don’t have to agree with the

opinion of others.

There is objective truth.

Truth is the ultimate virtue.

“Wisdom is knowing what to do

for the glory of God when the

rule book runs out. It’s knowing

how to become all things to all

men without compromising

holiness and truth.”

John Piper

Do not CONFORM to the

pattern of this world, but be

TRANSFORMED by the

renewing of your

mind. Then you will be able

to test and approve what

God’s will is - his good,

pleasing and perfect will.
