Term 2 Week 10 Wednesday 24 June 2015
SAFE RESPONSIBLE RESPECTFUL
Another testimonial
“MuiltiLit is a great program to be running at
Wollondilly.
I have seen some children go from struggling to
read a sentence, to being confident readers.
It makes the child feel proud to know what they
have accomplished.”
From the Principal
Wow the end of Term 2 is fast approaching and as we
reflect we have a lot to celebrate once again. Our
students have experienced so many different things
this term and all have helped them mature, develop
and acquire new skills.
We have had students represent our school, district
and region in several sports. We have had students
participate in public speaking, choir, Dance2be Fit,
gymnastics, dance, recorder group and chess club at
school and Year 6 students enjoyed a fabulous week
at Berry Sport and Recreation camp. The SRC
organised some fun Mufti days to raise money for
those less fortunate and staff have been involved in
various professional learning opportunities.
We thank all our terrific parent helper volunteers for
their continued support.
Have a safe and relaxing winter break. Staff return on
Monday 13 July and students return Tuesday 14 July.
Semester 1 Student Reports
Student Reports will arrive home first week next term. I
commend all teachers on the professionalism,
commitment and time spent on the reports, for
individual students in their class.
If you wish to discuss your child’s report, please make
an appointment with your child’s teacher as soon as
possible.
Susan Bradley
Principal
Congratulations Claire and Matthew!
On Monday Clair Hellessey and Matthew Dunn were
very proud to represent their school at the 2015
NAIDOC Public Speaking Challenge.
The event was held at Queanbeyan East Public
school and they competed against 5 other teams from
the local area. Students had to work as a team to
prepare and present a four minute speech on the
topic, “We all Stand on Sacred Ground: Learn,
Respect and Celebrate”.
After some great speeches we were very excited
when Claire and Matthew were awarded first place.
They will now go on to represent our school at the
Regional level next term. We look forward to hearing
them present their speech at this week’s assembly.

GILBERT/ CROKER SHIELD- RUGBY LEAGUE
GALA DAY
Last Thursday, Wollondilly participated in the Gilbert/
Croker Shield gala day. We entered 10 students in
the 3 / 4 and 16 students in the 5 / 6 competitions.
All teams played extremely well on the day against
tough competition. Our senior team were victorious
on the day, defeating St. Peter and Paul’s school in
the grand final- winning the Jason Croker Shield.
Members of that team will now travel to Macquarie
University to play in the “Legends of League”
competition.
We would like to express our appreciation to all the
wonderful parents who were such a fantastic help on
the day and to all those parents who were able to
attend and support the teams.
Library News
Congratulations to those students who have completed
their 100 nights of home reading and have had the
pleasure of coming to the library to select their book
prize. We have enough books to give to everyone in
the school, so keep reading!
Over the past few weeks students have enjoyed
decorating the library with a winter theme and the next
transformation will be to help with our upcoming
NAIDOC Week celebrations. Any contributions or
ideas for our Aboriginal display will be greatly received.

SHELTER BOX FOR NEPAL CAKE STALL
FUNDRAISER
Last Friday, the SRC conducted a cake stall to raise
money for our school to buy a Shelter Box to donate to
the people of Nepal who were recently devastated by a
massive earthquake which destroyed homes and
thousands of lives. We would like to extend an
ENORMOUS thank you to all the parents who so kindly
donated such an array of amazing cakes and biscuits.
Also, a great big thank you to Lockie Brouff and Jared
Murphy who, independently, prepared a lolly jar
guessing competition to add to the day. A great thank
you must also go to Mrs Woodberry for donating wrist
bands for sale on the day….they went like “hot cakes”!!
and to Mrs Medway for all her invaluable help.
We raised over $500!!!! WOW!!. Lastly, a great
thank you to the SRC executive who ran the stall
with such enthusiasm and professionalism.
