Last week, Mrs Lessard led 60 senior Civics students to the State Capital in Hartford for a citizen’s eye view of Connecticut politics. The tour included a walk through the Capital and the legislature, and a personal meeting with State Representatives Perillo (Shelton-R) and Rose (Milford-D). From the gallery, they watched the action on the House floor as the legislature considered bills on minumum wage, Sunday liquor sales, and mandatory heart screening for newborns. In turn, the House recognized the students, and commended the State Championship Basketball team. St Joseph the Worker meets Bishop Lori the worker. We hosted the Archbishop-elect of Baltimore on Tuesday. Bishop Lori celebrated his eleventh and last mass with the students, who sent him off with three rousing prayer-cheers to St Joseph, and a crystal cruet set to remind him to keep us in his prayers daily. The students also presented him with a check for $500 to assist with his chairitable work. In turn, he announced the In Caritate Servire awardee, Keirsten Lynch. The scholarship recognizes a junior who has demonstrated exemplary Catholic leadership and extraordinary Christian service. Bishop Lori also took time to meet with student leaders and reflected on his years as preist and servant to the Diocese of Bridgeport. He conlcuded his visit with a hard-hat tour of the acdemic center. He said with a touch of pride that St Joe’s is the only diocesan high school in New England that is expanding. Pax et bonum, Episcopus. Tuition Agreements Due The 2012-13 tuition mailing has been sent to all St Joseph families. Please return the tuition agreement for your student(s) promptly. Payment is due June 1. The application and required copies of identification for the Union Savings Bank 11 month payment option must be returned to the bursar’s office by May 15. Virtus Training There will be a Virtus Training session held in school on Wednesday, May 9th at 4pm for

anyone who needs this Diocese mandated training. This is a requirement of anyone who works or volunteers

in the school in ANY CAPACITY!! Once you’re trained, it’s good for life! If you are interested in signing up,

Parent Association Membership. Have you joined yet? It’s not too late! If you’re not sure if you are a

member, you can check on EDLINE, under the “Parent Association” tab, then on the right side of the page look

for “Parent Association Membership”.

Post Prom Fundraiser! SJ pennants are being sold in the cafeteria in support of the Post Prom. You can

personalize it with a message to your favorite senior. Pennants will be hung in the cafeteria until May 17th

when they will be moved to the “Wall Of Wishes”, which is part of the Post Prom Decorations at the Rinks. All

are invited to come and “sign the wall”!

Senior Shades Senior shades are still being sold, and are in fact, ON SALE for $3 each. You can pick them

up during lunch in the cafeteria, or in the Advancement Office.

Post Prom 2012. It’s not too late to donate a raffle prizes. Please remember is is YOUR STUDENT WHO

WILL BENEFIT FROM THIS REQUEST! Thanks for your consideration! Next meeting is Wednesday, May

9th, 7pm in the school library.
