*Hike with day pack only, luggage will be transported separately*Aug 20 Depart Chicago, O’Hare AirportAug 21 Arrive in Spain at Santiago de Compostela Airport. Transfer to Sarria, overnight.

Aug 22 Walk 13.5 miles (6 hours) (23km) through pretty villages under shade from oak trees, along quiet roads. Mass will be daily.

Aug 23 Walk 13.5 miles (6 hours) (23km) crossing the Minho river going uphill, passing Gonzar and the Romanesque Church of Santa Maria, Castromair features sculpture of Daniel & animals.

Aug 24 Walk 9.3 miles (5 hours) (15km) continuing The Camino downhill, passing Casanova and Leboreiro. Cross several streams into a forest to the Boente village.

Aug 25 Walk 8 miles (4 hours) (13 km) on the Camino crossing several streams, into a forest to the villages of Ribadiso & Arzua visiting the churches,Santa Maria & La Magdalena.

Aug 26 Walk 14 miles (5.5 hours) (23 km) thru woods, sleepy villages and along streams. see the chapel of Santa Irena and the lovely hamlet of Rua (house cover of vines.)

Aug 27 Walk 8.6 miles (4 hours) (14 km) to Lavocaola, where traditionally, pilgrims washed in the river before reaching Santiago de Compostela. Rows of tall eucalyptus trees line our journey to Monte del Gozo (Mount of Joy) Arrive at The Cathedral of Santiago. Attend evening Mass

Aug 28 Santiago de Compostela. Day of prayer. Receive an official Certificate of Completion for the walking pilgrimage.Aug 29 Depart from Santiago de Compostela, Arrive Chicago O’Hare Airport, PM
