THANK YOU!!! ARE YOU LISTENING? Mary and I were overwhelmed with the reception you gave us on Sunday night as you expressed your love to us. Words are inadequate to express how our hearts were touched. You have treated us wonderfully well during these 8 months we served you as Interim. Your many expressions of care will always be remembered. May God’s richest blessings be yours as the new pastor and his family come to serve the Lord and you here in the wonderful city of Sebring. We love you all. We join you in praying for Pastor Matt Crawford and family. In grateful love, Allen and Mary Higginbotham

OUR MISSION STATEMENT Under the Lord Jesus Christ, we will connect with others,
grow as disciples, and serve with our gifts.
Dear Church Family,
I can’t tell you how excited Christie and I are to finally be here! We have already been greatly blessed by your
hospitality, prayers, hugs, and kindness. It is great to be in Sebring! More than anything else this week, I have been encouraged by the way that I can see Christ’s love being demonstrated through your care for one another. Your love for the Cox and McCall families was so obvious as we prayed together. And at prayer meeting, time and again I heard of instances in which the Body of Christ has ministered in practical ways to one another in times of need. That is awesome, and God is glorified through it! Jesus said in John 13:35, “By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (ESV). This is the kind of love I believe that
you have been displaying as you have cared for one another. And as you continue to do this, you will make clear to the world that you are disciples of Jesus, and you will participate in drawing more of the world towards Jesus as Savior. So, I want to thank you for your ministry to me and to each other. I want to praise God for His work through you in that. And I want to encourage you – press on! Continue loving on one another and on the lost in our community. The Lord will be faithful to complete this work that He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). I hope and pray that you have a great month, as we head back to school and our fall schedule. See you soon. In Christ,
Pastor Matt
Celebrating and caring for one another. Serving and ministering in Christ’s Name.
Enjoying fellowship with God and each other.
KEENAGERS PROGRAM August 15, 2013
11:15 a.m. Bring a friend and a covered dish and join us for great fellowship, inspiring
speakers, music/singing, and good food.
SENIOR PASTOR
Ok, here we go August!
First of all, I want to say thank you so much again for the expression of love that you, First Baptist Sebring, showed to Sarah and
me-giving us a cruise. We will be leaving in a few days and we are so very excited about it! I can’t wait to show you pictures when we come back. Thank you!!!
We are so blessed to be a part of this church, and we are excited about what God has in store for us. Well, I also shared with most of you how excited we are to have Matt and Christie joining our church family. Don’t forget to keep on praying for them, the boys, and the baby girl that is on the way! There is a hymn chorus that says: “Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray; Make me a blessing to someone to-day.” (George Schuler, 1982-1973) Let us make that our prayer and always be alert in how we can be a blessing to others and always point our actions and attitudes towards Christ, the One who gave it all. Just as we read in Scripture, if we are to give, to encourage, to be merciful, let’s do it cheerfully. (Rom. 12:8)
Just a quick word of alert to our choir members (and for the ones interested in joining our awesome choir): Wednesday, August 14, 7 pm, will be our first practice; and Saturday, August 17, from 4-6pm, will be our choir retreat. Please con-tact Lynda at our church office for more information. Call her at 863.385.5154.
May God bless you all, and I hope to see some new choir members on the 14th!

MINISTER OF MUSIC
The teachers are busy getting ready for the new school year. Our theme for this year is "For God so Loved the World.” The teachers have chosen different parts of the world to decorate their classrooms. Enrollment is up, and we are very excited for the new adventures that God will bring our way for this school year. Please pray for our teachers as they get ready for the new school year.
Dixie Kreulen, Director
Pastor Luis Luna

COME JOIN US! The vision of the Women’s Ministry is to seek to fulfill Christ’s mission by encouraging women with a sense of belonging to God and each other; helping them discover their God-given gifts in ministry; enabling them to glorify God through worship, prayer, and service; and equip-ping them for blessing others with the love, grace, and truth of Jesus Christ. We have monthly meetings August through May (excluding December) and schedule events throughout the year for women. Come join us and see how you can help minister to others! “Each one should use whatever gifts he has received to serve others- faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” 1Peter 4:10 NIV

KITCHEN ANGELS
NEEDED
Just when you thought you were running out of ways to serve our Church Family, along comes a “real good deal” of an
opportunity! Erik and Darlene Christensen, possibly the
best “bosses” you will ever have, are looking for a few more kitchen angels.
Even if you have never before helped in the kitchen or dining area, you are still needed.
They will train you!!! So, come on, get in touch with the
Christensens and get started. You will be enjoying good fellowship with other
“Angels” and soon you will be wondering why you didn’t do this sooner! :)
471-6271 or [email protected]
The Women’s Ministry will be meeting Tuesday, Aug. 27th, at 6:30 pm in Fellowship Hall to begin planning for the Fall Retreat and the Spring Tea. All are welcome to attend.

“I was sick and you visited me…” Matthew 25:36
[Tell] to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done. Psalm 78:4 God has a special message to all aunts, uncles, and grandparents! David felt that there was the possibility that God’s mighty works were going to be forgotten and a generation being lost. He called God’s people to never tire of telling the old, old story of Jesus’ redemption to future generations. I hope you are faithful to tell of God’s mighty power, work, and grace in your life to children and to your grandchildren. We want to keep them from searching in the darkness of unbelief and rebellion. Keenagers, let’s inspire faith and obedience to our next generation! Mark Your Calendar! Keenager Program, Thursday, August 15, 11:15 a.m., Crime Prevention with Ms. Nell Hayes. Please bring your favorite food to share! Trips are being planned for the fall. We’ll keep you posted!
