Wayne was born in Toronto Canada to a successful family that includes a brother who is a well
renowned sports writer in Toronto, Canada. Wayne was always sports minded himself and be-
came a semi-pro hockey player as a young man back in the golden era of Canadian hockey.
Wayne has always had a deep love for everything Mopar, having owned over 15 Dodge and
Plymouth muscle cars through the years. He relocated to Florida in 1991, and met his lovely
wife Sharon, who unfortunately succumbed to cancer several years ago. Wayne has owned
several successful businesses, and he currently resides in Nokomis, FL.
Pictured here is Wayne with his beautiful 1967 Plymouth Barracuda, in rarely offered factory
paint of dark copper poly, with High Performance 340 engine. Wayne's love of Mopars is as
strong as ever!

WOW!! AUGUST ALREADY? WHERE OR WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE?
July has turned out to be a pretty active month for our Club. Ice cream social on the 9th, National Antique and Classic car Tour day on the 13th, our paid Car
Show at Gran Paradiso on the 15th and a Club luncheon on the 25th. I want to THANK all 52 members who participated in the Gran Paradiso Car Show. It was an overwhelming success, even with the three “H's” in play (94 degrees). Mr. Johnson, of Lennar Homes, was so elated he approached me and said this will be happening again and very possibly soon. Also, of newsworthy mention is myself and director Duke were approached by the director of marketing for the West Villages. She did a live interview and posted it to Facebook. Then inquired if we would be willing to participate in other events. We agreed to entertain all possibilities. The car tour for National Antique & Classic Car Day could have been a better turnout, BUT once again RAIN & HEAT played a major role in attendance. Forty-six signed up and thirty-seven showed up. We will be evaluating the summer month’s Club functions at the next board meeting, as sixteen to twenty folks showed up for Ice Cream social.
*Beginning in September, all members receiving both e-mail and mailed copies of the newsletter will only be receiving the e-mail copy. Any member wishing a hard copy may pick one up at monthly general meeting. Thank You for your co-operation.* **Also, beginning in September, Jim McCarthy will no longer be taking orders for Club Shirts. We have an inventory on hand to cover most new requests. Should Jim NOT have your size available, you may go to:
Embroidery Patch & More
208 Warfield Ste. D, Venice, Fl. Please ask for Kevin or Lisa. Tell them you are with Venice Region AACA. They will take your order and you can pick it up when ready (usually a week).** Remember, August 13, next General meeting. Have a great summer or whatever is left to it. President George C. Nubile 941-240-2428 [email protected] Editor’s note: Since there was no Club meeting in July, There are no minutes in this month’s newsletter.

BOARD MEETING: Tuesday, September 4th , at Myrt le Trace, 2:00 p.m.
After World War II, the BMW factory at Eisenach, Germany was
located at the Soviet sector, and the factory became a Soviet Stock
company. Production of pre-war BMW models restarted in 1945.
As long as the Soviets owned the company, BMW in Munich could
not bring legal proceedings to protect its tradename. In 1949 the
Eisenach works launched the BMW 340 (a development of the BMW
326 with modified front and rear bodywork). Since the Munich fac-
tory was not producing cars yet, all BMWs made from 1945 to 1951
are Eisenach products. By 1952, BMW in Munich was able to secure
its tradename and logo and started to produce cars again. As a result,
the ownership of the Eisenach works was transferred to the East Ger-
man government and renamed EMW or Eisenacher Motorenwerk.
The BMW 340 was further refined as the EMW 340-2. Production
of EMWs ceased in 1955 and the company was renamed Automobil-
werk Eisenach (AWE). In 1956 they began producing the Wartburg
311. Photos courtesy of Auta 5P.
