-WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO GET INTO THE MUSIC INDUSTRY?I have always been a music lover. My homies and I used to freestyle and beat box up and down the neighborhood all the time. Growing up I had a few friends who wrote songs often, but I never seen many benefitsthat were reaped. One day, I wrote a song about an incident that happenedaround my neighborhood and I rapped it to a few people. End result, they lothey loved it and told me to write more. I didn't really listen at the time, because I was focused on other things. More time passes and my good friend, now brother-in-law, got out of jail. His name is B. Lambert aka The Don of WCDT and he had wrien a lot of good music. I was really motivated byhis work and felt, with my entrepreneurial mind, we could take our movement to the next level. Eventually we became an unstoppable, lyrical, group, now called WCDT aka West Coast Dream Team.

I changed the two esses at the end to dollar signs, so that every time you see my name, you think of money for us to earn together. Now I just tag my name asFLAWLE$$.of.WCDT, because I have learned that the name is common, but not the reasoning. not the reasoning.

-WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO GET INTO THE MUSIC INDUSTRY?What a lot of people dont know is ive been in the game for years. Ialways had plans to make it in the music industry. But i made bad decisions in my life. That made me get a couple of years of my life in jail. Which made me lose some of the opportunities I was making in the music industry. But now im back!! I have alot to prove. To eTo everyone and most of all myself. Not saying im the best in the rap game, cause im not. My point is i do have something to say. And the way im going to say it is threw my music. When people hear my music. I want them to say hes got some dope lyrics thats a hot song. Or thats a great mixtape or album. Most of all just the respect. For people to respect the grind I put in.

-WHERE DOES YOUR STAGE NAME COME FROM?My stage name? lol. I tell eMy stage name? lol. I tell everyone to call me STAR for short. But my name comes from my Religious beliefs. Im a Five Percenter. They are the poor righteous teachers who do not believe in the teaching of the 10% and who are all wise and know who the true and living god is. Who teaches that the true and living god is the son of man, supreme being, black man from Asia. Who teaches freedom, justice, and equality to all human families of the planet earth.Otherwise known as civilized people, also muslim and muslim Otherwise known as civilized people, also muslim and muslim sons. And if thats to much over your head. Then you should do your research. -WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?I have a lot!! I think we all do. Basiclly every rapper i heard on the radio growing up. But my biggest influences are the people around my people around my way and who I work with. Taleem"Da Ripper",POS, and Medicine-Man for teaching me how to rap. Even if it meant rewriting a verse. Satisfaction for always freestylin when I ask right on the spot. Oxpro of Trillogy and Craze Colon (Crazed Out Music/LiveliHood) for making M-Cs around my way step up there game. Tony HighPoint and Grim Reep of (ACM/100 Block) for always keeping the streets on smash. I-Rule a master with words. Rock Steadyon smash. I-Rule a master with words. Rock Steady(StreetBorn Entertainment). Stay Ready Records, Cablez,Hi-Caliber,Chief-Lyric. And anyone else I have the pleasure to work with whether there a artist or producer. -WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ON THE STATE OF HIP-HOP TODAY?I believe the oversaturation of club anthems and trap music is nearing its peak. I see hip-hop music moving towards deeper messages and meaningful lyrics that the average listener can appreciate. I think that the key to success in the future will be to combine the catchiness of party songs, and the respect level of hood tracks, while spiing lyrics that have a deeper purpose than both. Hip-hop has grown to become one of the most popular genres in the entire industry, has grown to become one of the most popular genres in the entire industry, and it’s time we use our influential power for a greater good.

-ARE YOU SIGNED TO OR AFFILIATED WITH A LABEL? Unsigned

-IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH OUR READERS?I’m a normal human being just like you. I have worked hard for everything I have in life, and I believe that my good fortune is simply the product of that hard work.work. As a Southern California native, I was lucky enough to be raised in a city full of cultural diversity. Unfortunately, along with that diversity came adversity from gangs, drugs and a lack of money. I was tired of starving on my lunch breaks and wearing hand-me-downs, so I got my first job at age 12 as a paperboy. For lack of a beer term, I became very materialistic. As a child, I wanted nothing more than to not be broke. I set all my goals on aaining artificial happiness, and by the time I was 21 I had done just that. It didn’t take me very long to realize that money that money wasn’t going to buy me happiness. I had no real purpose in life until I was 23, and my son Elijah was born. Fast forward to age 30 and the birth of my daughter Audrey, and you will start to understand that I am still growing, not onlyas an artist, but as a human being. I appreciate you taking the time to listen to my story. I hope you not only enjoy my music, but that it helps you to get through whatever it is in life that is preventing you from being truly happy. God bless.

-WHERE DOES YOUR STAGE NAME COME FROM?My stage name comes from an old moniker I used from around 2000 to 2004, which which was unAuthordox. Everyone always referred to me as Dox, the Boogie... I kinda just dropped in a freestyle one day when I was buggin' out on a beat and sounded fresh... so it stuck and I continue to rock with it.

-WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?My musical influences are vast, very eclectic... from my vinyl collection dating backto the 30s, though predominantly 60s & 70s. I definitely am influenced by the originators and creative artists that saw no boundaries and labels, like the soulful and jazz stand jazz stylings of the era, the rock of Jim Morrison, The Beatles, Zeppelin, to more obscure unknown bands of that time to the dominance of the early 90s to mid 90s golden era as well as the late 90s rise of the avant garde underground. Artists like jayz,Nas,Masta Ace, Big Daddy Kane, Wu Tang, to Company flow, Arsonists, Swollen Members, Non Phixion, etc that I grew up on def played a rolein my influences as well.

-WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ON THE STATE OF HIP-HOP TODAY?Hmmmm my opinion on the state of hip hop today.... Overall I'd say the quality is coming back but we still giving too much credit to the YouTube sensation one night wonders. I'I've also noticed a much larger problem, when I see established dope mcs cosigning wack artists by doing songs with them just for a check, it kinda gets to me a bit. It's like the artists are allowing our culture to become less about skills and more about politics... but I see the changing of the guard coming. I dig all hip hop, it all has its place....besides I find I'm often more open minded than most of my peers so I'm down to experiment with sound in general.
